The $10,000 win was Saldana's series leading ninth of the 2010 campaign and his 18th career triumph at Eldora, with nine of those coming in World of Outlaws events. With the victory, Saldana moved into sole possession of eighth-place on the all-time World of Outlaws win list with 68 A-Feature wins.
Saldana lined up second with Lucas Wolfe leading the field into turn one, before he blasted around the high side of turn two to take the top spot and quickly jumped out to a comfortable lead in the Budweiser Maxim.
"We worked hard and it was a great effort by everyone," said Saldana. "This is the motor we should have won Lakeside (Speedway) with and I destroyed it. Rick Long with Speedway Engines worked really hard to get it back to us. There are a lot of people that helped us to get this motor back for this weekend and I can't thank them enough for getting us an engine that can compete and win these races."
Saldana was out front during two yellow flag and one red flag period on Friday night. He chose the high side of the track on each restart and charged into turns one and two to quickly open a lead. He would pace all 30 circuits to score his second win of the season at Eldora Speedway.
"I've seen this place so many times throughout the years just from watching and the top is faster," shared the winner. "It seems like if you can get momentum faster than the next guy you'll be ok. This track is definitely a momentum place and its fun when it's like that, but it's still pretty tough to drive."
During a long green flag stretch that lasted 25 laps, following a third lap caution, Saldana set a blistering pace around the high side of the legendary high-banked half-mile and wound up lapping up to the 12th-place finisher. He looks for the track to be a little bit different tomorrow for the 27th Annual Kings Royal, an even he has won twice in his career.
"The track was pretty treacherous on the cushion tonight and I don't think they'll let it be like that tomorrow," noted Saldana. "They'll probably make it slicker so it's more even for everybody. I was told there were a lot of lapped cars between us tonight. We'll just have to wait and see. We learned a lot tonight and I know that lapped traffic will be very tough tomorrow. We'll see what happens tomorrow."
Donny Schatz used a strong double file restart with three laps to go, to take second from Paul McMahan. He would end up in the runner-up spot aboard the Armor All/STP J&J. The four-time and defending series champion started third and fell back to fifth on the opening lap. He then worked his way by Jason Sides for fourth, before tracking down Lucas Wolfe for third with just four laps remaining and then McMahan.
"We got better as the race went on and that's all you can ask for," Schatz said. "Tomorrow is 40 laps and that's like another whole race. I'm just glad to get a second-place finish tonight. The Armor All guys did a great job and we learned a lot. Hopefully we can come back tomorrow and be better."
Paul McMahan continued his strong summer coming home third in the Great Clips Maxim to earn his 14th Top-Five finish of the season. He started fourth and charged past Donny Schatz on the opening lap, before getting by Lucas Wolfe on the second lap. He was running second on the final restart with three laps to go and lined up on the low side of the track.
"I don't think I had anything for Joey (Saldana)," McMahan said. "I spun the tires on that restart and it was just a mistake on my part. It was a great night for KKR and everyone involved with this team. This is five straight Top-Fives and hopefully we can move up a couple of spots tomorrow and get that 50-grand."
Steve Kinser ended up fourth in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim to earn his series leading 35th Top-10 finish of the season. Lucas Wolfe was fifth in the Allebach Racing Maxim. Jac Haudenschild came all the way from the 23rd starting spot to finish sixth in the Owens-Corning Fiberglass XXX. He was caught up in a second lap incident which sent him to the work area and then stormed back through the field.
Dale Blaney was seventh in the Ti-22 Performance Maxim, with Jason Sides eighth piloting the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim. Craig Dollansky was ninth in the Big Game Treestands Maxim, with Daryn Pittman rounding out the Top-10 in the Indy Race Parts Eagle.
The World of Outlaws return to action on Saturday, July 17 with the 27h Annual Kings Royal at the famed Eldora Speedway which will again pay $50,000 to-win. The cameras from SPEED will be on hand to capture all of the action for broadcast on August 7.

Back on Top: Joey Saldana Wins Knight Before
Kings Royal & Retakes World of Outlaws Point Lead
Rossburg, OH-July 16, 2010- After a couple of frustrating races that saw him have some bad luck and fall to second in the World of Outlaws championship standings, Joey Saldana got back on track in a big way on Friday night, scoring the win in the Knight Before the Kings Royal at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio and retaking the top spot in the standings as well.

Weedsport, NY - July 16, 2010 - Friday night featured the 2nd Annual All-Star 50 at Cayuga County Fair Speedway and for the second year in a row it was a Phelps speeding into victory lane to collect the $3,000 top prize.
In this year's return edition, however, it was cousin Jimmy Phelps from Baldwinsville, N.Y. crossing the line first to take top honors in the 'Super DIRT Week of the Summer' at the home of DIRTcar Racing Northeast.
“Feels pretty good to finally get a series win here, every time we're confident coming in although, until tonight, we usually left for home frustrated and disappointed,” remarked a relieved Phelps, 35, in the Weedsport winner's circle for the second time in 2010. Last July it was Ryan Phelps climbing atop
the podium after registering his first career series win to kick off the inaugural All-Star Weekend at The Port. “This one couldn't come at a better time, it certainly gives us a lot of momentum going into tomorrow.”
“We've been pretty good here all year so this kind of win really helps. The car is really good, we're just going to have to watch the track tomorrow and make some more good decisions. Hopefully, we'll have a little luck and be there at the end,” said Phelps, after scoring his third Super DIRTcar Series win of the season to give him eight all-time.
For the second straight series show Phelps battled Matt Sheppard much of the distance, with 'Super Matt' settling for second following his own 50-lap triumph taken the previous night across town at Brewerton Speedway. North country traveler Billy Dunn finished a season-best third ahead of a hard charging Tim McCreadie and current tour points leader Billy Decker.
DIRTcar's richest summer event of the season for Big-Block Modifieds at Cayuga County attracted 46 open-wheel teams to Central New York. Yet in the end it the two most familiar cars and drivers once again showed the way as they remained at the top of their game from the opening green.
Waterloo, New Yorker Sheppard posted his fifth Bilstein Shocks Fast Time in the 10th tour event of 2010 while Phelps was clocked fourth quickest before taking the checkered flag in the fourth of five qualifying heats.
But despite selecting the pole in the customary pre-race draw, Phelps dropped back as far as third in the early stages before his HBR Motorsports no. 98h Wave Energy Drink-Mohawk Northeast/Troyer entry found its groove by the midway point of the race.

TORONTO -- Andrew Ranger continued his mastery of road courses, taking the Jumpstart 100 Saturday in the first visit for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 to the Toronto street course.
It is the 10th career series win and seventh on a road course for Ranger. The two-time series champion, who is not running for the title this year, has also captured a pair road course wins in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series in the last month.
To get Saturday's victory, Ranger had to hold off the field on a green-white-checkered finish. A caution on the final lap for an accident ended the race under yellow.
Jason Bowles finished second, followed by points leader DJ Kennington, Don Thomson Jr. and Kerry Micks. Bowles is the 2009 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion and had finished third in his previous Canadian Tire Series start at Mosport International Raceway.
Ranger won the pole Friday and was out front all day Saturday, spending most of the time fending off the challenges of JR Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick, however, got loose following the final restart and lost several positions to finish eighth.
Trevor Seibert, Jeff Lapcevich, Fitzpatrick, Brad Graham and Peter Klutt rounded out the top 10 on the 1.765-mile temporary course at Toronto's Exhibition Place.
The race was slowed due to caution just three times for six laps.
A full replay of today's TSN live telecast will be shown on TSN tonight at midnight ET (9 p.m. PT).
The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will return to the track Sunday, July 25 for the Canadian Tire 100 when it races at Edmonton City Centre Airport, the 1.973-mile road course in Edmonton, Alberta.

evasive action. Despite her best efforts the car was damaged and could not be repaired so her first full laps of the track would come during qualifying. “I tried to avoid the problem but there was nothing more I could do” said Johnston.
Now forced to learn the track and put down her best qualifying effort at the same time Johnston showed well. “With concrete walls all around you and with such a bumpy track I did all I could but wanted to make sure the #01 Pizza Pizza Dodge was ready for the race” said the driver.
After attracting a great crowd during the driver autograph session Johnston climbed into her car and began the race in the #01 Pizza Pizza Dodge looking to continue to learn about the cars, track and competitors and also improve her position. “The car felt great and we were starting to making tracks on the cars ahead of us” said the driver.
As Johnston continued to push the envelope in the #01 Pizza Pizza Dodge her lap times improved and also had to negotiate slower traffic. “We had some contact with another car and lost a brake line too so that would finish our race early” she stated. “But even though we didn't complete the entire distance it was a great learning experience. Just learning more about these cars and the track it was a really successful weekend for us” she added.
Caitlin Johnston in hoping to race in more NASCAR Canadian Tire series events this year though no schedule is yet confirmed. “I'm anxious to work with Pizza Pizza to expand the program in this series. It's the premiere racing series in Canada and this is definitely where we want to be going forward. We're going to be working on that right away” she added.
Johnston will be back at the Toronto Indy Sunday for pictures and autographs from 10Am to 2PM in the Pizza Pizza Fan Zone on Thunder Alley.

CAITLIN JOHNSTON GETS PLENTY OF ATTENTION AT TORONTO INDY
July 17, 2010. Caitlin Johnston of Orangeville, Ontario was making her second career start in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series Saturday during round four at the Toronto Indy weekend. And much like during her first outing Johnston and the #01 Pizza Pizza Dodge attracted big crowds and plenty of attention.
As the teams took to the track for practice Johnston was anxious to get out and run as many laps as possible in the #01 Pizza Pizza Dodge during the one hour session. Unfortunately a problem ahead of her caused her to take
The #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com team approached the first practice cautiously after making extensive repairs to the car after the Mosport outing. All went smoothly mechanically with the car. “That was a big weight off our shoulders” said Thorndyke.
The hiccup came during qualifying. Due to a radio issue Thorndyke would run an extra lap following the end of the session. The penalty was having the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com Chevrolet being dropped to the rear of the field to start the race. “It wasn't a huge penalty for us, but we talked with the NASCAR officials, and they knew it wasn't intentional” said the driver.
As the green flag dropped on the 100km event, Thorndyke looked to begin moving forward. “The #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com car was really good today” smiled the driver. “As a racer you always want to go faster, but the motor worked well and we were able to gain some positions” said the driver.
For the most part it was a smooth race although Thorndyke did have one noteworthy moment. “I touched the wall lightly just once” said the driver. “But it wasn't my fault, I got forced into it by another car” he quickly added.
Thorndyke was extremely pleased with the teams finishing result. “We finished twenty third, gained a bunch of spots, I'm happy” said the driver. “This was a really good day for the entire #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com team who worked very hard” he added.
David Thorndyke and the EVT/iRacing.com Chevrolet team are next scheduled to race August 15th at Trois Rivieres. All races in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series are broadcast on TSN. For more NASCAR Canadian Tire Series information log onto

THORNDYKE PLEASED WITH EFFORT IN TORONTO
July 17, 2010. David Thorndyke and the #67 Thorsons Enclosed Vehicle Transportation/iRacing.com team were excited to participate in the first ever NASCAR Canadian Tire series event to take place as part of the Toronto Indy weekend. They were especially happy after enjoying a successful outing in the race.
July 17, 2010. Calgary's Jarrad Whissell and the #44 SMS Equipment/Komatsu Ford team were hoping to rebound from a disappointing first outing in the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. During round four at the Toronto Indy weekend they once again faced significant performance challenges.
The #44 SMS Equipment/Komatsu Ford team difficulties began during the practice session when an electrical fire ended their only practice time early. “Even though one of the track marshals doused the fire quickly our session was over” said Whissell. “Then we had to scramble and make repairs just to have the car running for qualifying” he added.
The #44 SMS Equipment/Komatsu Ford team completed the job and Whissell with his limited track time managed to claim the nineteenth starting position. “I brushed the wall during qualifying and not only did that affect the handling of the car, but also cracked our dry sump system so we had a late night of repairs to be ready for the race” said the driver.
As the race began Whissell took a cautious approach. “We didn't really have a very good car during the race” said the disappointed driver. “Knowing that the car was a handful I just tried to do the best I could” he added.
Whissell would use his driving skills to not only maintain his position but also gain spots during the 100km event. “I'm pretty pleased that we did gain a few spots and finish sixteenth” said the driver. “And I am also pretty happy that we finished the race on the lead lap. It was great to be part of the Toronto Indy event for the first time and to have our race air live on television for the first time good news for the series, and helps us give greater exposure to our racing to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society” he added.
Whissell and the #44 SMS Equipment/Komatsu Ford team are quickly putting this race behind them and now looking ahead. “It's unfortunate that we had the problems we did in practice, and that never allowed us to find the right set up on the car” summarized Whissell. “But now we get to head back to Edmonton, a track that's a little more wide open and a track I'm more familiar with and I'm confident we'll have a better performance” he concluded.
The five NASCAR Canadian Tire Series road course events are a part of some of the largest race weekends in Canada and also include the Toronto & Edmonton Indy's and Montreal Nationwide race weekend. Follow the progress of the team and help support Multiple Sclerosis research through the website

CALGARY'S JARRAD WHISSELL BATTLES THROUGH
ADVERSITY IN TORONTO
July 17, 2010. Ron Beauchamp and the #60 Exide Batteries/Mopar Parts/Mobil 1 team expected to keep their momentum going in the right direction coming off a top-five finish in their last outing of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. However during round for in Toronto as part of the Toronto Indy the team would be disappointed with the results.
The #60 Exide Batteries/Mopar Parts/Mobil 1 team struggled during practice and Ron Beauchamp would struggle to handle the car. “As I was coming up through the long right hand corner the car just snapped out from under me” said Beauchamp. Fortunately the body damage was mostly cosmetic.
The #60 Exide Batteries/Mopar Parts/Mobil 1 team made repairs and during qualifying the performance improved. “After talking with the team and some of the other guys we took some rear brake bias out of the car and it was much better”. Because of the troubles during
TOUGH AFTENOON IN TORONTO FOR BEAUCHAMP
practice the team was relegated to the slower qualifying group and would start the 100km feature race sixteenth.
As the race began Beauchamp looked to move the #60 Exide Batteries/Mopar Parts/Mobil 1 Dodge forward in the field and had moderate success in the early going. “I just tried to make sure I stayed away from any contact and trouble that might occur from some guys trying to get the early jump” said Beauchamp.
As the race began to unfold Beauchamp noticed that something was wrong with the handling of the #60 Exide Batteries/Mopar Parts/Mobil 1 Dodge and tried to compensate. “The car wasn't braking the way it should” explained the driver. “I tried to help by using the transmission to help slow the car but that wasn't good enough” he added.
Soon after the #60 Exide Batteries/Mopar Parts/Mobil 1 Dodge would stop on course bringing out a full course caution and slowing the field. During this time Beauchamp managed to coax the car back to pit road where after an inspection of the rear end suspension the pronounced the car broken beyond repair, they were finished after only seven laps. “This is a tough one to swallow” said the driver. “The positive is that we did find the set up for the car to run quicker on this kind of street course and we'll absolutely be faster in Edmonton next week” he stated.
Ron Beauchamp Jr. and the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge Team will compete in all thirteen races on the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Round number four takes place Sunday July 25th as part of the Edmonton Indy weekend. All events this season will again be broadcast on TSN, For more information about Team Mopar go online to

July 17, 2010. Derek White and the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Race Team hoped to have the mechanical issues that hampered their performance behind them as they arrived in Toronto for round number four of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this past Saturday night. Unfortunately the day turned into a battle looking for engine gremlins that t the Toronto Indy this past weekend.
Sadly right from the first practice session the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Race Team battled several different problems that would eventually end their day early.
As practice began a problem on track sent the teams back to pit lane until the incident cleared and unfortunately for the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Race Team they would stay there for the remainder of the session. “When we got back to the pits the car was overheating” said White. “So that was the start of our troubles” he added.
Unfortunately for White and the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Race Team it wouldn't be the end. During qualifying White was unable to get full power from the car. “I came into pit lane after only a couple of laps” said the driver. “I knew that there was something wrong in the motor so there was no sense in making it worse” he added.
The #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Race Team worked late into the night to install a new engine for the race. By rule because of the switch they were relegated to starting at the back but hoped to use the 100km race to help them moving forward this season. Sadly more trouble found them as this time the clutch was the culprit. “I'm just really frustrated” said White.
Derek White and the #99 DPW/OCR Gas Bar Team are scheduled to race next Sunday July 25th as part of the Edmonton Indy weekend. The team is scheduled to compete in all thirteen series races this season. As in years past all NCATS races will also be seen on TSN. You can follow the team all year long by following this

DEREK WHITE FIGHTS MECHANICAL PROBLEMS
KENNINGTON SCORES
PODIUM FINISH IN TORONTO
July 17, 2010. DJ Kennington, driver of the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge approached round number four of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series at the Toronto Indy expecting run well and come away with another top finish to maintain the points lead in the overall championship. Following the 100K race on the streets at Exhibition Place it was mission accomplished.
During practice the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge was showing the speed Kennington knew the car was capable of. As the team worked doggedly to make changes Kennington put down a blistering lap to claim the quick practice time. He would follow that up with a great qualifying effort and begin the feature race from the third position. “I worked the car pretty hard during qualifying” said the driver. “We definitely got everything out of it” he added.
As the green flag dropped and tens of thousands watched in the stands and for the first time live on television Kennington maintained his focus and looked to complete the race with his original goal in mind. “I didn't want to be too aggressive at this track, it's a lot of fun and very fast in spots, but the risk isn't always worth the reward” said the driver.
Though he never took the race lead he was never outside the top-five for the entire event. Kennington drove a very smart and strategic race in the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge and as the field was slowed for a full course caution he lined up fourth for the green, white checkered two lap dash to the finish. “I wanted to finish on the podium, but I wasn't going to do anything foolish to try and make it happen” explained the driver.
As the field took the green the #84 car made a charge for the lead, his aggressive move would result in his running of course which resulted in the third place podium finish the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge team wanted. “This whole team worked so hard again this weekend” said the driver. “This is a great result for us, another podium finish, we extended our points lead and now we head to Edmonton to race this same car and it's in great shape” he concluded.
With the third place finish in Toronto Kennington boosts his lead in the overall season championship to forty one points ahead of the second place driver.
The series now heads to western Canada for three events beginning next Sunday July 25th as part of the Edmonton Indy weekend. Follow the progress of the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors Dodge all season on the newly redesigned website
