tonight”, says Billings after the race. “It is tough to make up any ground starting from the back when it stays green, especially on a fast track like it was tonight, and racing against these Big Blocks”.
Rain most of the morning forced track officials to cancel Saturday night's racing events at the nearby Brockville Ontario Speedway. A decision from the track was announced just after noon on Saturday. Billings and the team then shifted their focus for a Sunday night show at the Cornwall Motor Speedway.
Billings started his qualifying heat from the fifth position, and after ten laps of racing, he had moved up to fourth. The team then went to work, making adjustments for the 30 lap feature. Billings started in 12th place in the main event, and steadfastly moved through the field. At the checkered flag, Billings moved to the eighth position.
“Eighth isn't where we want to finish. We have some work to do, especially on these short tracks”, says Billings, referring to Brockville and Cornwall. “I am looking forward to the challenge”.
Billings will start the routine all over again this weekend in his Billings Automotive, Stealth Racewear, Race 101, Turn One High Performance Steering Systems, Pastime Motors, Babe Design, Finish Line Web Design, Carquest and Engine Research sponsored Bicknell car. Friday night they will be at Chapman's Can Am Motorsports Park, Saturday at the Brockville Ontario Speedway and Sunday at Cornwall.

Billings Scores a Pair of Top 10 Finishes; Brockville Rained Out

Craig Revelle - Finish Line Web Design
June 30, 2010
The weekend started off for Matt Billings at Chapman's Can Am Motorsports in Lafargeville, New York on Friday night, then Saturday was a weekly race at the home track, Brockville Ontario Speedway, and then back to Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday.
Matt Billings and his team left Brockville on Friday night, heading across the St. Lawrence River, and over to Chapman's Can Am Motorsports Park. A fast, tacky track produced some great racing and fast lap times throughout the evening. Track position was the key on this night, and with a starting deep in the field, Billings had his work cut out for him. When the green flag dropped, Billings consistently worked his way through the field. With 30 straight laps and no cautions to bunch the field back up, Billings climbed up to sixth place overall, and was the second highest finishing small block.
“We could have really used a caution

in this division from around the Northeast. After turning the fourth fastest time in qualifying, Evoy started second in his heat race and maintained the position throughout the race, earning a spot in the redraw for one of the top twelve starting positions. By luck of the draw, Evoy drew the number one starting position for the 50-lap feature. While strapped into his Bicknell car in the staging area, rain began to fall, and a great shot at a Mr. DIRTcar Series victory is now on hold until a later date.
“We had a really good car tonight”, says Evoy. “We had a great starting position, and I was really excited about starting up front”. It is disappointing that the rain started, we can't control the weather. We will be back here on Friday night looking for another win”.
On Friday night, it was another trip to Mohawk Raceway, and this time the rain held off. Evoy continued his run of strong finishes at MIR in his Ogilvie's Auto & Fleet Service, Fireball Performance Automatics, Nan's Kitchen, RONA, Robotic & Process Automation, Subway, Linde, Unity Savings, RipNET, Charleston Lake Auto Service, Canadian Tire, Thousand Islands Concrete, Pennzoil and NGK Spark Plugs Bicknell car, with a second place finish in the feature. Evoy now finds himself locked in a battle for the track championship, sitting in second place, just 26 points back of the current leader.
“We have the car working really good at Mohawk. “We haven't had the consistent finishes we want in Brockville this year, mostly due to getting caught up in wrecks that were unavoidable. Hopefully the rest of the season will turn around and we will have better luck at Brockville, says Evoy.”
Rain all day Saturday forced Brockville Ontario Speedway track officials to cancel their racing program. A decision was made shortly after lunchtime on Saturday, giving Evoy's an unwanted Saturday night off. Evoy sits ninth place in track points after six events, just 23 points out of the top five.
This coming weekend, Evoy will be back at the Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, and then another weekly visit to the team's home track, Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday night.

persistence and the results have paid dividends. “I had my best ever Canadian NASCAR series finish of sixth in the opening round, and even with some pit stop troubles we were fifteenth at Mosport, these kinds of results show we're a team that's gelled together very quickly” enthused the driver

Autodrome St. Eustache can be a tricky and difficult track to maneuver so Pierre will be taking a cautious approach. “My first goal is to finish the entire race and bring the #00 Telus Dodge home without incident. That is a significant accomplishment at this track” stated the driver
“I've received some good information on technique to handle this track and the traffic from my teammate DJ Kennington so I think we'll have a very positive result. I'll be keeping everyone posted on our progress by tweeting on my Telus iphone” said the driver.
About Pierre Bourque: Pierre Bourque will participate in select events of the 2010 Canadian NASCAR Series in his #00 Telus Dodge.

Weedsport, NY - June 30, 2010 - The Fourth of July holiday traditionally marks the halfway point of the season on the DIRTcar Racing Northeast circuit. And for teams competing in the four premier 2010 Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series, the first full month of summer will be even hotter as they contend in nine more special events scheduled in both Canada and the U.S.
July is easily one of the most demanding months of the entire season with seven extra-distance races on the docket for Big-Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series racers alone. Dollansky has a total of six career wins at Huset's Speedway dating back to 1995. He was victorious in his very first start at the track and has been fast ever since. In his career with the World of Outlaws at Huset's, the veteran has eight Top-10 finishes in 12 starts with five of those being Top-Five performances.
"Huset's has always been one of my favorite tracks and they always prepare the track very well," shared Dollansky. "It's definitely one of the more exciting race tracks that we go to as far a driver is concerned. You can do some slicing and dicing and race the top and the bottom. It's a track I really enjoy racing at."
The event at Huset's on Thursday, July 1 will be the World of Outlaws first at the track since 2008, as both scheduled races last year were rained out. It will mark the first time the series will visit Huset's with the new tires from Goodyear, as well as with double file restarts, which were implemented at the beginning of the 2010 campaign and have provided some exciting racing and allowed driver to come from the back of the back.
"Everyone is in the same boat there since we didn't race there last year and that was unfortunate, because there are a lot of great race fans up there that we enjoy going up and seeing as well," said the veteran driver. "It's a race track that they work hard at and to lose two shows was unfortunate, but hopefully we can get this one in."
Dollansky has one victory this season, with that coming at Lone Star Speedway in Texas back in March. He is currently ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings aboard the Big Game Treestands Maxim on the strength of 15 Top-10 finishes with seven of those being Top-Five runs. He is just 72 points out of the sixth spot as the battle from sixth through ninth rages on. Dollansky is one of 12 drivers that have won an A-Feature event this season, while 21 different drivers have led laps in feature events, with 13 drivers setting fast time in qualifying and the same number winning dashes to earn a pole position in a main event.
"The competition level has always been tough out here," he said. "There are a lot of strong teams out here again this year. It's World of Outlaws racing. We're continuing to work with our program here and we've made some strides here and some changes that I think will be beneficial for us. I'm looking forward to the next month and the "Month of Money" coming up here."
Dollansky, who is in his first year driving for the Big Game Motorsports Team, continues to adjust to the new tires this year as well as the double file restarts and some of the other changes that greeted competitors this season. He and his team led by crew chief Mike Woodring along with crew member Lester Groves have been working very hard all season and that has paid off over the last couple of weeks, as they have been very fast, scoring Top-Five finishes in three of the last five races for the World of Outlaws and Top-10 runs in four of the last five.
"It's been a challenge, that's for sure," note the native of Elk River, Minnesota of all the changes in 2010. "Like I said, we've sorted some things out and figured out some things that we had been struggling with as the year has worn on. It's always a work in progress as things continue to change, but we have a good race team here with the Big Game Treestands car. My crew is working hard and we have a lot of racing left and to have some of this stuff sorted out now is good."
Dollansky has raced his way into the dash 16 times this season and has gone on to pick up Top-10 finishes in 14 of the A-Feature events that followed. He has been among the Top-10 in time trials on 13 times, with seven of those being among the Top-Five, which has earned him bonus points in the series standings. With the way the dash in lined up and inverted in 2010, qualifying plays a very important role when challenging for win.
"You definitely have to be able to qualify," he explained. "For us, we ran into some issues in that department. It's a long season and qualifying definitely puts you in a good position for the evening and we'll keep on working on that as well."
On Thursday, July 1 at Huset's Speedway, tickets for adults will be $35, with tickets for juniors (ages 8-14) just $5. Tickets will be available at the track box office in advance and on race day. For more information on tickets visit www.husets-speedway.com or call the track at 605-582-3536.

Previewing the World of Outlaws at North Central Speedway

By Tommy Goudge (June 30, 2010) - The sixth round of Ohsweken Speedway's Friday Night Thunder hits the track this Friday, July 2nd with a big event. This week's event is presented by Jones-Brown Insurance, and features the third annual “Northern Summer Nationals” for the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars, Southern Ontario Sprints, ASCS Sprints on Dirt, and ASCS Patriots. The ESSO Thunder Stocks, ESSO Mini Stocks, and Bombers will also be a part of this special night.
A large field of Sprint Cars is expected on Friday night at Ohsweken for the third annual Northern Summer Nationals event. The Northern Summer Nationals feature winner is slated to take home a $3,000 prize, and all four participating sanctioning bodies will be awarding points towards their respective championships on Friday.
Dave Dykstra of Port Colborne is back on top of Ohsweken's weekly Corr/Pak Merchandising division standings thanks to a second place finish last Friday. Dykstra leads by just three points over current Southern Ontario Sprints points leader Keith Dempster of Alton, and by just five markers over South Dayton, NY's Kyle Moffit. Defending Corr/Pak champion and 2009 Northern Summer Nationals winner Tom Huppunen is currently eighth in points and has one feature win this year.
Dempster leads the SOS standings by a comfortable margin over Consecon driver Tyler Rand, while Ohsweken's Glenn Styres sits third. Dempster got the win in the SOS opener at Brighton in May, while Jamie Collard of Burford took the most recent series win back at Brighton on June 19. Collard is expected to debut a second car for Miles Hill on Friday at Ohsweken as a teammate to Mike Ling of Mount Brydges. Ling made a spectacular charge through the field last Friday at Ohsweken to finish third after starting seventeenth.
Jared Zimbardi of Salamanca, NY is the ASCS Patriots championship leader heading into Friday. 2008 Northern Summer Nationals winner Brian Howland of Auburn, NY is second on the list, followed by Brookfield, CT driver Jimmy “Bubba” Broderick. Zimbardi has been a semi-regular visitor to Ohsweken in recent years, and already has three starts under his belt at the track this year. In each of those events, he finished in the top five.
Dain Naida of Tecumseh, MI leads the ASCS Sprints on Dirt tour to Ohsweken by a narrow three point margin over St. Johns, MI driver Ryan Grubaugh, while Gregg Dalman of Bellvue, MI is third. Naida was in action at Ohsweken last Friday and claimed the feature win in dominating fashion. Portland, MI driver Dustin Daggett is also expected at Ohsweken Friday night. The twenty-seven year old has six career feature wins at Ohsweken, including one on the Friday of Northern Summer Nationals when it was a two day event in 2008.
Billy Bleich of Port Robinson continues to lead the ESSO Thunder Stock standings after taking second and seventh place finishes in last week's Twin Fifteens. Caledonia's Lee Winger and Jamie Cox of Cambridge are tied for second, sixteen points behind. Jeremy Bean of Stoney Creek, and Grimsby's Rob Disher round out the top five. Mike Thorne and Devin Habiuk took the wins in the Twin Fifteens last week, and both are expected back this week despite the damage Thorne's car suffered.
Trevor Goulding of Welland holds a twenty-five point lead in the ESSO Mini Stock standings. Amazingly, his third place last Friday was his worst finish all year at Ohsweken. Brantford's Kevin Hilborn, Craig Erskine of Brantford, Paul Goodale, and Caledonia's Mike Evers round out the top five. Abel Castelein of Cayuga won last week's feature in thrilling fashion, beating Hilborn by just a few inches.
Karl Sault of Dundas leads the Bomber division standings, followed by Hamilton's Kacey Huffman and John Cote, and Jeremy Hughes and Shawn Ireland, both of Burlington. The Bombers also ran twin features last week, with Hughes and Adam Reidel taking the wins.

COMING UP THIS WEEKEND
The National 250 on Saturday at Autodrome St. Eustache (Que.) will mark the third event of the 2010

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 1, 2010) - Roots from family trees run deep at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. Generations of drivers have raced on the flat quarter-mile oval. In more cases that one would think, generations of families have occupied the same seats over the past 62 years.
Three generations and four members of the Robertson family can be found in the stadium's bustling pit area each Saturday night. Even though all of them want to win, the family focus has been on third-generation driver Ryan Robertson, 24, of Winston-Salem, N.C.
Robertson had competed at Bowman Gray occasionally in years past, but began the 2010 season planning to run five Webb Heating and Air Conditioning Sportsman Series races.
He joins his cousin, Bryant Robertson, 38, of Lexington, N.C., (15th in track points) in weekly competition, while his dad, Mike Robertson, 46, of Winston-Salem, N.C., is a 36-time race winner and still has a Sportsman car he drives occasionally as well. Grandfather Gerald Robertson, 70, of Germantown, N.C., competes regularly in the Stadium Stock division. He's currently eighth in the track points standings.
Ryan Robertson is in close points races with Derek Stoltz, 29, of Walkertown, N.C. Heading into the Fourth of July weekend, Robertson led the track points over Stoltz, while Stoltz led the NASCAR Finalist Division II point standings over Robertson.
Other NASCAR asphalt divisional leaders include Division III, James Harding, Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway; Division IV, Tim Hollen, Raceway Park; and Division V, Doug Schmitz, Raceway Park.
Leading the standings at NASCAR dirt tracks include Division II Jim Hendricks Jr., I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb.; Division III, Brad Derry, I-80 Speedway; Division IV, Joe Baker, I-80 Speedway; and Division V, Andy Wilkinson, Junction Motor Speedway, McCool Junction, Neb.
The new NASCAR Finalist national recognition program focuses on the divisions outside of the Feature Division at each NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track. Points are kept separately for dirt and asphalt tracks. A NASCAR-licensed driver's best 14 finishes are counted toward their final points total for the year.
Each track in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series designates its top division as its Feature Division, and assigns its remaining divisions a designation of II, III, IV or V. The Finalist Program was established this season to recognize the drivers in those latter divisions. With decades of family racing history and a worthy rival with which to contend, all eyes are on Ryan to bring home the family's first Bowman Gray Stadium NASCAR track championship.
“This is our first run for a championship,” Robertson said. “We planned on running the first five races at Bowman Gray, but when we found ourselves up there in points after that, we fell into running for the championship. I've got all this weight on my shoulders now because I want to win it for our family.”
Robertson has raced Late Models, Limited Late Models and pavement Modifeds and competed at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C., and a former paved track in Elkin, N.C. Between the three tracks and divisions, he has eight career feature wins. He qualified for Martinsville (Va.) Speedway's 2008 Late Model Stock Car 300. He finished 24th in the event, but making it into the all-star event is a major accomplishment.
“I'd like to race for a living, but I'm happy to be able to race wherever we can race,” Robertson said. “It's a blessing.”
Robertson also 'races' on many tracks he's never seen online via iRacing.com.
“I drive at Martinsville, Concord, South Boston, Thompson and Stafford,” Robertson said of his online competition. “I've gotten pretty good at Stafford. I think I've got that place figured out. Turns 3 and 4 are sweeping while in 1 and 2, you have to get on the brakes and get to the bottom.”
Mike Robertson serves as his son's car owner, crew chief and spotter. Team members include Kenneth Palmer, Gerald Robertson, Derrick Barnes, step-mom Michelle Robertson, Wayne Jordan, mom Kelly Robertson, sister Lindsey Robertson, Scott Hall, Justin Hoyle, Bubba Gale and the driver's little brother/”future driver,” Chase Robertson, who is 5.
Team sponsors include CWF-Carolina Wood Floors, Winston-Salem State University Motorsports, Make-A-Wish Foundation, ICE Epilepsy Alliance, K-Dog Graphics and sports marketing firm MediaFit which represents the team.
The competitive nature of drivers and the demanding confines of Bowman Gray's quarter-mile mean incidental racing contact can be unintentionally frequent.
Robertson said he and points rival Stoltz probably won't generate some of the on-track fireworks that the track is known to generate.
“Derek and I both grew up on Saturday night racing and we're close in age. We're cool with our relationship on the track and we race each other cleanly. Everybody on the track is there to do one thing, and that's win. It takes common sense and racing courtesy. You've got to be around at the finish to have a chance to win. I got that from my dad. Still, he says he and his family are “excited” about the opportunity to race for a championship.
“We lost my cousin and crew chief Jason Hoyle to cancer last July,” Robertson said. “We're not just racing for a championship. We're racing for Jason, too.”
The NASCAR Finalist points structure is the same as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series featured division at each track. The feature winner receives two points for every car in the feature up to 20. Second place receives two fewer points and that distribution continues through the field. Race winners receive five additional bonus points. For example, if there were 20 cars in the feature, the winner would receive 45 points, second gets 38 and third 36. If there are 15 cars the winner receives 35 points, second gets 28 and third 26.
At season's end, the top driver in each of the four asphalt and four dirt NASCAR divisions will receive invitations to the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series awards banquet December 10 in the Crown Ballroom in the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C. where they will be recognized.
