Aric Almirola
No. 88 GT Vodka Chevrolet
What does it mean to you to get an opportunity with JR Motorsports?
“It's awesome. It's going to be a fun weekend at ORP. Pulling double duty between the Nationwide Series and Trucks will give me a lot of seat time. The JR Motorsports equipment is definitely top-notch stuff, so we just want to go in and get everything we can out of the car. Like any short track, it's all about track position. Tony Eury Sr. is a definite old-school racer, and I'm sure he'll have a solid setup and good pit strategy for this race. He's the guy you want on the pit box for you at a place like this.”
You're no stranger to racing at ORP. Talk about some of your past races there.
“I have a decent amount of experience at ORP. In 2007, I sat on the pole in a Gibbs car and led a bunch of laps. Running the truck race on Friday night will definitely help out too. It's cool to have a sponsor like GT Vodka on board and I think the paint scheme on the 88 car looks great. We're going to do everything we can do get GT Vodka in victory lane.”
Josh Wise
No. 7 Go Daddy/HowDoYou.com Chevrolet
The Go Daddy/HowDoYou.com team had a great race last weekend. How do you plan on building on that this weekend?
“It means a lot to have great organizations like JR Motorsports and Go Daddy behind me. It's been a great experience working with both of them, and I'm excited for the next two races. Last week, my goal was to take everything one step at a time and go for a top-10 finish. We were successful with that at Gateway. Now it's time to step it up a notch. ORP is a track that I'm very familiar with and a top-five finish is a realistic goal for this week. I've logged a ton of laps there, especially in a sprint car. It's a track I've always enjoyed. I'm really optimistic for a top-five finish there. I know we can do it, it's just a matter of putting together a solid qualifying effort, keep our fenders clean and taking advantage of track position.
“I was fortunate enough to test with the JRM team at North Wilkesboro this week, so I feel good heading into this weekend. It's a nice feeling to have everyone on the same page, and if we can carry all the positive work from last week into ORP, that's what we need to do. This is a solid opportunity that was put in front of me, and I need to my absolute best to take advantage of it.”

NEW FACE IN THE 88 - Another newcomer will be featured in the No. 88 Grand Touring Vodka Chevrolet this weekend at ORP. Twenty-six-year-old Aric Almirola becomes the ninth driver in the 88 this season, joining Steve Arpin, Kelly Bires, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ron Fellows, Jamie McMurray, Coleman Pressley, Greg Sacks and Elliott Sadler. Almirola owns 31 starts in the Nationwide Series, with one win (Milwaukee), two top-five and six top-10 finishes. He earned four poles and led 210 laps in his career.
SECOND RACE FOR GT VODKA - This weekend is the second of 10 races this season for the GT Vodka paint scheme. GT Vodka debuted at Daytona with driver Greg Sacks. The team raced its way to a 21st-place finish after a seventh-place qualifying effort. In addition to its 10 races this season, GT Vodka will be back for 15 races on board the No. 88 Chevrolet in 2011.
ALMIROLA AT ORP - Almirola, a previous pole sitter at ORP in 2007, owns three starts there in the Nationwide Series with one top-10 finish and 87 laps led. In the Camping World Truck Series, Almirola secured three starts with one top-five and two top-10 finishes.
SEASON UPDATE FOR GT VODKA TEAM - The No. 88 GT Vodka team has earned four top-five and seven top-10 finishes on the season. They've also led 32 laps this year. Jamie McMurray has secured three top-five and five top-10 finishes with Ron Fellows earning one top-five and one top-10 finish. Kelly Bires also contributed a single top-10 finish on the season.
WISE AT ORP - After a season-best effort in the No. 7 Go Daddy Chevrolet last weekend at Gateway, Wise will compete in his fourth race with the JRM team. Wise earned his career best NNS finish at ORP with a fifth-place showing in 2008. He has notched one top-five and one top-10 finish in two career races at the facility.
SEASON UPDATE FOR GO DADDY TEAM - Last week's eighth-place showing at Gateway International Raceway brings the Go Daddy team's season totals to five top-10 finishes. Steve Arpin, J.R. Fitzpatrick and Josh Wise have each contributed one top-10 finish to the team's tally. Scott Wimmer earned two top-10 finishes for the team and led 39 laps on the season.
TEAM POINTS POSITION - The No. 88 GT Vodka team are ranked eighth in the 2010 owner points after Gateway. The No. 7 Go Daddy/HowDoYou.com team occupies the 21st spot in owner points.

Ron Sheridan tops the NASCAR Late Model points with Scott Lindsay 20 points back. Sheridan and Lindsay followed Jonathan Urlin to Victory Lane last Friday night. Just 9 points separate Powerade Modifieds leader Jamie Cox from Barrie Newman and the points race tightens up even further down in the top five.
Points leader and defending champ Paul Fothergill hopes to rack up another win in Demar Aggregates Trucks. Derek Clark's shoulder injury will keep him from being behind the wheel of his #7 and Michelle Koricina will be looking for her second win of the season.

By Tommy Goudge (July 20, 2010) - The eighth round of Ohsweken Speedway's Friday Night Thunder hits the track this Friday, July 23rd. This week's event is presented by Outhouse Image and Design and Wiseco Piston, and features “Christmas in July” with Santa Claus, plus a Toy Drive, and Autograph Night. The rescheduled Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars “Mid-Season Championship” will run on Friday, along with the ESSO Thunder Stocks, ESSO Mini Stocks, Bombers, and a Chain Race!
The Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car stars will be competing in a twenty-five lap Mid-Season Championship event presented by Wiseco Piston this Friday night. Dave Dykstra of Port Colborne continues to lead the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car division standings, though his advantage is down to just ten points. Kyle Moffit of South Dayton, New York charged through the field after early problems last week to finish second in the ESS vs. Corr/Pak “Battle on the Grand” feature, and gained on Dykstra as a result. Alton's Keith Dempster is third in the standings, followed by Campbellville driver Kevin Job, and Glenn Styres of Ohsweken. Dave Dykstra remains the only repeat Sprint Car winner at Ohsweken in 2010 and has two feature wins total, while Tom Huppunen, Dain Naida, Dustin Daggett, Steve Poirier, and Kyle Moffit have claimed wins as well.
Billy Bleich of Port Robinson still leads the ESSO Thunder Stock standings, but he also saw his lead dwindle last week. Cambridge driver Jamie Cox got his first feature win of the season last Friday night, and is now just twelve points behind Bleich. Caledonia's Lee Winger is now third in the standings, followed by Jeremy Bean of Stoney Creek, and Caledonia driver Ryan Dinning. Billy Bleich and Devin Habiuk each have two feature wins in the ESSO Thunder Stocks this season, while Jamie Cox, Lee Winger, Shayne Pierce, and Mike Thorne have one each.
Welland driver Trevor Goulding continued his excellent season last Friday night, charging from eleventh on the grid to finish second. Goulding's lead in the points chase sits at fifty-one over Brantford's Craig Erskine, who is followed by Kevin Hilborn of Brantford, Ohsweken driver Paul Goodale, and Steve Miller of Paris and Waterford's Mark Thorne tied for fifth. Trevor Goulding has claimed three feature wins this season, while Abel Castelein has two, and Craig Erskine and Steve Hess have one each.
Jesse McDonald got his first Bomber feature win of the season last week, but Dundas driver Karl Sault continues to hold a commanding points lead. Kacey Huffman of Hamilton is second in the standings, followed by Shawn Ireland, Jesse McDonald, and John Cote.

While most race tracks put a special emphasis on the touring series that visit every year, Kawartha Speedway has always been the exception to the rule. It's the drivers in the track's 3 weekly divisions that get most of the time in the spotlight. Friday, July 23rd the Better Carpet Thunder Car division will run a 50 lap invitational event. The show will welcome drivers from a variety of other tracks to battle the hometown heroes. Newcastle, Ontario's Chad Strawn - the 2009 rookie of the year - currently sits 3rd in division points and has done everything short of winning a main event this season. Still, the sophomore runner is pleased by his performance.
“I've won qualifying heats and semi features. All that's missing is the interview in victory lane after a feature win,” said Strawn, who will be a first-time father in September. “My crew works extra hard to make sure the car is ready for every show and that helps a lot. I'd like to win the big race, but running consistently can also lead to a track championship, so I hope we'll just keep doing what we're doing,”
Kawartha Speedway 2010: Can You Feel the Thunder?
By Jim Clarke, Kawartha Speedway PR/Clarke Motorsports Communications
In addition to the thunder car 50 lapper, Friday night's action will also feature the second of 4 appearances by the Ontario Legends Series. Derek Frohlich won the opening round at Kawartha Friday, June 25th in only his first start of the season. Its unsure if he'll be back to try for 2 in a row as he is also running a 358 cubic inch sprint car, based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and is currently outside the top 30 in points at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Kawartha Speedway officials are working with a variety of tracks and sanctioning bodies to find a make-up date for the 7th Annual Summer Sizzler, after the popular late model series invitational event was delayed by rain Friday, July 9th. Dylan Evoy and his Evoy Racing team entered the weekend with two events on their weekend schedule. First it was a trip to the Mohawk Raceway, in Hogansburg, New York then to the home track Brockville Ontario Speedway the following night.
At Mohawk Raceway, Evoy started the 20 lap Sportsman feature in fourth place, and soon found himself battling for the lead. Lap after lap, Evoy was shadowing the race leader, and on a couple of occasions made it up along side of the leader. Evoy recorded another second place finish at MIR, his sixth runner-up finish of the season at Mohawk Raceway. In ten starts this season at Mohawk Raceway Evoy has posted nine top five finishes, including a win a few weeks earlier.
“We almost had it a couple times. We got up along side the 01 car and he hit a bump in turn four and got up into our lane, and we lost some ground. We came back though, but just couldn't complete the pass”, says Evoy after the race.
While success at MIR is important to the Evoy team, having strong performances weekly at the home track Brockville Ontario Speedway in front of sponsors, family, friends and fans is the team's primary focus. Evoy has had some good consistent results at Brockville so far this season, and was on the verge of their first win at the BOS in their Ogilvie's Auto & Fleet Service, Fireball Performance Automatics, Nan's Kitchen, RONA, Robotic & Process Automation, Subway, Linde, Unity Savings, RipNET, Charleston Lake Auto Service, Canadian Tire, Thousand Islands Concrete, Pennzoil and NGK Spark Plugs Bicknell car.
Evoy started the night by winning his qualifying heat race, ripping through the field from his seventh place starting position. By winning his heat race, this gave Evoy the third place starting position for the 20-lap Sportsman feature. Evoy moved into second place on lap six, and then took the lead with an impressive move as he looked to the high side and then dropped to low to make the race-winning pass. Evoy led the final 13 laps for the win.
“It is always great to win at our home track here at Brockville. I want to thank everyone for all their support this season. The team has done a great job all year long, and I can't thank them and all of our sponsors enough for all of their help”, said an excited Evoy from victory lane.
This coming weekend, Evoy will be back at Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, and then back home to the Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday night.
Evoy Racing 2010 apparel is still available at the track on race nights. Stop by the Evoy trailer after the races and pick up your t-shirt or sweatshirt. You can also contact us at ronevoy@ripnet.com. T-shirts are $20 and Sweatshirts are $30.

Another Consistent Night
Time For A Feature Win
Charging Into Turn Three…Heat Races Bring A 2nd and 3rd
After the heat races our crew changed the battery and the car was fine. We made some minor chassis adjustments and hoped we could take our car to the winner circle. Early in the feature we found ourselves boxed in the slow lane, and no place to go. By the time we were clear the race was half over.

The battle for the Flamboro championship, in its crucial stages, is still within the grasp of our team, but with only 7 race nights remaining, we desperately need a string of podium finishes, and a win would help us tremendously.
The Quaker State team ran great on Saturday night finishing 2nd in the first heat and 3rd in the next. A weak battery almost took us out of the second qualifying race, but determination kept us from losing third position as the engine began to back fire with only two laps remaining. Keeping the throttle to the floor, in spite of the severe miss allowed us to gain one valuable spot.
Soon After This Photo We Get Beside #3 Finishing Side By Side At The Checker
For the following 18 laps, running 7th, we gained on the leaders passing cars until we were in 4th. The final few laps had us in a dogfight with Chris Boschler #3, and on the final lap we were able to get beside him coming on the final turn, but settled for an exciting fourth place finish.
Our next race is this Saturday at Flamboro Speedway 6:30PM start. This Saturday is the annual Memorial Night race, a night to honour drivers who have passed on. This is truly a very special tribute to them and their families.
