The Windride Transportation Services Sport Stocks will be racing for the coveted guitar trophy in Saturday's Country 92.9 Night at The Races at South Buxton Raceway.
Louis Clements of Chatham won the 2009 guitar trophy, as the Sport Stocks class will be the main event for Country 92.9 FM/630 AM CFCO's third annual Country Night at the Races.
Mike Regnier of Country 92.9 FM/630 AM CFCO will be broadcasting live from the race track beginning at 3 p.m. for the Junior Fan Club party right up to the drop of the green flag at 7 p.m.
Laurie Montgomery of Chatham won the radio station's Grand Marshall contest, which has been running for the last two weeks leading up to Saturday's Country Night At The Races. She and four guests will watch the races in the VIP booth with deejays from Country 92.9/CFCO as well as wave the green flag and join the victory celebrations in the Winners Circle for the Sport Stocks feature.
Chatham's Eric Vanderiviere heads into the night as the hottest driver in the class with two feature wins in the last three weeks, including last Saturday's mid-season championship race.
Vanderiviere also moved to within nine points of Doris Lajeunesse of Essex, who has led the division standings since opening night.
Lajeunesse's only checkered flag all season came in the opening night feature race but his consistency has kept him atop the standings all season. He has six top-five finishes in seven features since his opening night victory.
Clements, the two-time defending season points and championship race winner, finished second in last Saturday's mid-season championship after missing seven weeks due to engine issues.
Merlin's Brad McLeod has opened a 28-point lead over defending Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modified points champion Jim Dale Jr. of Shrewsbury.

McLeod, a seven-time track champion, finished second to Merlin's Joe Brosseau in the Modified mid-season championship while Dale Jr., a six-time track champion, finished sixth.
McLeod was just two points ahead of Dale Jr. and four ahead of Chatham's C.J. Field going into last week's mid-season night.
Field, however, scratched from the feature and fell back to fourth in points, 89 points behind McLeod.
Blenheim's Shawn Jones padded his lead atop the Four Seasons Driver Education Comp 4 standings to 68 points over Cottam's Rob Quick.
Nate McNally has won the last two Comp 4 features, including last week's mid-season championship, but remains fifth in the standings, 124 points behind Jones due to a two-week suspension earlier this month.
Dale Glassford of Ridgetown continues to lead Chatham's Brad Authier by 79 points atop the Dover Sanitation UMP Late Models after the two drivers put on a thrilling 25-lap battle in last week's mid-season championship.
Authier picked up the victory, his second feature win of the season.

The threat of more severe weather moving into the South Buxton Raceway area this afternoon has forced the cancellation of today's race race program.
The crews were working on getting the track, parking lots, grandstand area and pits back into shape following Friday's heavy thunderstorms.
But with more thunderstorms imminent this afternoon, which are scheduled to hit the area around the time of the Junior Fan Club party, the decision was made to cancel the entire day's activities.
The concern for the safety of the children attending the Junior Fan Club party with severe weather in the forecast forced track promoters Anne and Blake Outhouse to cancel the program at 11:40 a.m.
While work was ongoing to get the racing surface ready for the 7 p.m. scheduled start time, the Outhouses said the track and facility could not take any more rain following Friday's storms.
The Junior Fan Club Party has been rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 14.
A new date for the Country 92.9 FM/630 AM CFCO Night At The Races will be announced next week.
This is South Buxton's second rainout of the season and the first since the original opening night on May 8. We have had 10 straight weeks of racing in between the postponements.
For more information, please contact Mike Bennett 519-351-4765

Weather postpones South Buxton Raceway for Saturday, July 24
