Thorold, Ontario (July 27) - As the 1st Annual Bob St.Amand Sr Memorial Big Block Modified Super DIRTCar Series approaches us, the release of the unique method in which the St.Amand Family has decided to distribute their lap money they have collected is being released to race teams and fans.
Instead of the customary lap money going to the lap leader of each lap, the St.Amand Family has come up with a unique method to ensure that the lap money is spread out amongst the drivers.
The method the family has created is this - they put the numbers 1 to 20 in a bucket. They drew one number at a time and the number drawn is the position that will receive the lap money for that given lap. They repeated this 5 times to that all 100 laps are covered.
The following are the results of the draw followed by the respective sponsor of each lap (the position receiving the lap money is in the second column):
The total lap money collected is at least $3765.35, and that does not include the unknown amounts from lap 30, 34, 43 and 59. It is very possible that the lap money will surpass the $4000.00 mark!In addition to this lap money, the St.Amand Family has also collected lap money for the Modified Lites and Hoosier Stock Divisions as well as a sponsor for the Big Block Modified heat races. All heat winners in the Big Block Modified division will receive $100 compliments of Hoosier Tire Canada.
Furthermore, the Family has come up with another special bonus for the Merrittville Speedway regulars. The Family has sold packages to local businesses in which all those dollars will be split equally between our regulars who complete 90 of the 100 laps. The dollar amount currently sits at $3000.00 and could still possibly increase before Monday's event. The St.Amand thanks the following businesses for their support:
*406 AUTO WRECKERS*
*GREEN HORIZONS/HAMILTON SOD*

While younger race fans may enjoy the entire Countdown to Green activities leading up to Merrittville Speedway's Big Block Super DIRTcar Series Event, two special events will focus specifically on kids.
It's been a tradition at Merrittville Speedway since 1972 - make it yours in 2010 and follow the Big Block Super DIRTcar Series to the Thorold d-shaped oval for the 1st Annual Bob St. Amand Senior Memorial presented by L. St. Amand Enterprises in just 6 days - Monday August 2nd.
From the first event in 1972 through to this year's edition - a who's who of DIRTcar Modified Racing converge annually on the Canadian showplace to take on Merrittville's own talented field in the Civic Holiday Classic.
Last year a number of drivers were involved in a Bike Race on the front stretch and in the end - all the Bikes were given away to younger race fans.
When the qualified drivers for the 100 lap Bob Sr. Memorial take part in their redraw to set most of the starting field the kids will get even more involved.
From each Big Block Heat a number of drivers will qualify for the main event but their actual starting position will be determined via a front stretch draw.
You're thinking the usual water bottles or whatever spread out on a banner?
Not this year as a number of kids will be picked from the crowd and each one will be teamed with a qualified driver who will be asked to pick one of the kids with the starting position revealed by looking at World of Outlaw Sprint Car X Box Games that will be used for the draw.
So kids - make sure you listen up and volunteer Monday August 2nd at Merrittville - you could win big!
Race fans young and old may still wish to take part in Club Castropignano's Pre-race Pasta Dinner that is almost gaining as much in tradition as the race itself.
The pre-race Pasta Dinner served up by Merrittville's Annual Banquet Hosts - Club Castropignano. For race fans and race teams alike - it's the best deal in DIRTcar Dining.
Feast on fresh pasta and meatballs, garden salad, dinner roll and a can of Pepsi for $10 in advance.
“It just adds to much to the event,” relates (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “Thorold has a rich Italian Heritage and we're proud to showcase the Club with an awesome dinner … race fans and race teams alike should come to the event hungry … I know I do … no one goes away hungry.”
Get your tickets at the track … via e mail -
ebicknell@cogeco.net
or from the Speedway Office at 905-892-8266.
Race Fans and teams alike should get their Pasta Tickets in advance as on Race Day - Tickets are $12.
Merrittville Speedway's Bob St. Amand Sr. Memorial 100 lap Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series Event Monday August 3rd - it's unparalleled … unrivalled and unsurpassed and it's a must see event.
The inaugural Bob St. Amand Sr. Memorial 100 Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series Event Monday August 2nd is an event that Merrittville Speedway has hosted since 1972 - the year 'Sr.' won his Modified Points Championship. Since that first event - the stars of DIRTcar Modified racing have challenged Merrittville's talented field of hometown heroes in the Canadian Civic Holiday Classic.
The heart-pounding, high-powered, pedal-mashing entertainment includes a 25 lap Duel on the Dirt Home Track Event as Merrittville's full fendered Hoosier Stocks battle against the Brighton Speedway Pro Stocks in the 2010 Big 6 and a 25 lap Modified Lite Championship Tour Event for the J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites.
Gates open Monday August 3rd and the Club Castropignano Pasta Dinner begins at 4 PM.
Adult Grandstand Tickets are $25, Students and Seniors - $23, Juniors from 8 to 12 are $10 and Children under 8 are free.
Merrittville Speedway is located in Thorold Ontario Canada - just a short drive from the International Bridges. For further information call 905-892-8266 or visit

Thorold, Ontario (July 27) - It's Tuesday and that means that our Lucas Oil Weekly Karting Series younger racers will take to the infield track in a very short time.
Weedsport, NY - July 27, 2010 - One of the most prestigious titles a driver can hold in short-track auto racing today remains that of the overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Champion. Below are some frequently asked questions regarding rules & regulations, plus procedures currently in place for teams chasing the lucrative 2010 point crowns in DIRTcar Northeast's top touring divisions.
Q: How do I earn points?
A: Each touring series will continue to account for the bulk of the points towards the respective Mr. DIRTcar titles, yet bonus points picked up at a weekly home track remain just as valuable. Hoosier-VP Mr. DIRTcar champs in 2010 will once again be determined by tabulating points earned in the Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds and the Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series for 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock teams, along with bonuses collected at a driver's respective home track in each divisional DIRTcar Regional Racing Series.
Q: What is the points structure?
A: Points earned in either the season-long Super DIRTcar Series or Mr. DIRTcar Championship trails combined with bonus points issued after Labor Day from a driver's hometrack will determine the overall titlist in 2010. Each licensed track champion will receive 1,000 points, with the 25th-place driver earning 900 at his best track during the year. The customary 100-point format will be in effect for all four series, with the Big-Block division experiencing the only exceptions during All-Star Weekend at Brewerton and Cayuga County Fair speedways and in those events staged after August. The 60-point structure will be used in the 50-lappers at Brewerton (July 15) and Cayuga County (July 16) as well as each of the three segments comprising the All-Star 100 main event at CCFS on July 17. The 150-point profile will be followed for six events beginning Sept. 5 at Cayuga County. Complete track and series point guidelines are listed in the Official DIRTcar NE Rulebook.
Q: Where do I find the rule book?
A: DIRTcar Racing sets technical rules for its divisions, allowing drivers to travel to any DIRTcar Racing-sanctioned speedway or event and compete without making changes to their cars' components, bodywork or tires. These standardized rules provide the perfect framework for track promoters to draw large fields of cars from across the region to their major events while easing the burden on promoters when tough decisions have to be made regarding rules. The 2010 Official DIRTcar Northeast Rule Book is available online in the DOWNLOAD section at both
www.superdirtcarseries.com
and
www.dirtcar.com
.
Q: Who can I address my question?

Points Battle Heats Up At LaCrosse
Preble Inches Closer To Rocco For NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Lead
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 27, 2010) - J Herbst knows what it will take to defend his championship at LaCrosse (Wisc.) Fairgrounds Speedway: Not thinking about it.
“I'm not even worried about it yet,” said Herbst. “Last year it got stressful. This year, we're going to make sure we have fun every week. As long as myself and the team do the job that we know we're capable of doing, week in and week out, points will take care of themselves.”
Herbst is again locked in a tough championship race in the Kwik Trip Late Model Division at the .545-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. He has two wins, eight top fives and 13 top 10s in 13 starts to lead the track points by eight over Shawn Pfaff, 10 over Todd Korish and 13 over Steve Carlson.
Carlson, the 2007 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series champion, won this past Saturday night to take over the Wisconsin state championship lead by three over Herbst and 24 over Pfaff.
“We're doing pretty good,” said Carlson, who has five wins. “We have had our bad nights, too. It was just a piece of junk (last week) and the guys worked on it all week and made it better, and we won again.”
A driver's best 18 results - through Sunday, Sept. 19 - are counted toward their state and national points totals, and the champions are decided on overall points total.
In addition to honoring track champions, NASCAR will crown 25 U.S. state and Canadian provincial champions, continuing a tradition that dates back to the sport's early years. While Herbst won the track title last year, Kevin Nuttleman took home state honors.
Nebraska's Craig Preble continued to whittle down Keith Rocco's national lead. Preble won the crate dirt Late Model feature Saturday at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., and finished third at I-80 Speedway in Omaha, Neb., Sunday, to chop another 10 points off Rocco's lead.
Preble has 17 wins and 26 top fives in 26 starts, has 757 points.
Rocco, of Wallingford, Conn., has 16 wins, 25 top fives and 32 top 10s in 34 starts for 788 points.
Under the points structure for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, the race winner received two points for every car in the event up to 20. Second place received two fewer points, and so-on through the field. Race winners received an additional five bonus points. For example, if there are 20 cars, the winner received 45 points, second gets 38 and third 36. If there are 15 cars, the winner received 35 points, second gets 28 and third, 26.

Rocco did not improve his points total from last week, finishing third (Thompson International Speedway) and sixth (Waterford Speedbowl). The third Connecticut track where he runs his asphalt Modified, Stafford Motor Speedway, was rained out again.
Justin Johnson, of Durham, N.C., was first and third in twin asphalt Late Model division features at South Boston (Va.) Speedway and increased his third-place points total to 701. He has 11 wins, 16 top fives and 19 top 10s in 20 races at South Boston and Motor Mile in Radford, Va.
CE Falk III finished second and seventh in the asphalt Late Model division features at Langley Speedway in Hampton, Va. It allowed him to drop two poor finishes from earlier in the year and vault from sixth to fourth in points at 634.
Matt Buller, of Junction Motor and I-80, is fifth with 633, and 2001 national champion Ted Christopher is sixth at 628.
Because they've only raced 13 times, Carlson is 24th, Herbst is 26th, and Pfaff 31st. Their per-race-average, however, indicates they'd be in contention for a top-10 spot once they get to the 18-race mark.
It's a moot point for the 52-year-old Carlson, who will miss two races later this season to race in a regional Late Model touring series. A disqualification earlier in the season for a shocks violation took him out of the track points lead originally.
That hasn't slowed the competition.
The 31-year-old Herbst - whose first name is just the letter J, named after a good friend of his father's - knows that it isn't going to be easy defending his title.
“We've seemed to have found a hot weather package that works really well,” said Herbst, who works as a job site superintendent for HTH Construction, a company founded by his father. “The car just races like a son of a gun. We're leaps and bounds past where we were last year. It's been a good season, but the points battle is just unbelievable.
“It makes it fun and exciting for the fans.”
Track, state and provincial champions and the top three finishers in the national standings earn invitations to the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards Banquet. The winner of the national championship will also earn a secure spot in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown.
(Halifax, NS, July 27, 2010) The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour returns to beautiful Prince Edward Island for the Lucas Oil 100 this Saturday, July 31st. This is the Tour’s second and final appearance this season at the ¼ mile track located just a short drive from Charlottetown, in Oyster Bed Bridge. Canada’s best stock car drivers will start the evening with qualifying for the Lucas Oil 100 in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials set for 5:10 pm. Gates open at 1:00pm and tickets are available at the venue on race day.
The Lucas Oil 100 marks round six of eleven for the regional touring series, the mid-way point of the 10th anniversary season for the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour. Racing to date has been stellar and the battle for the championship rages on, every point a team can gain leads them one step closer to the coveted championship trophy and history. Fans will want to be sure to stay in their seats until the checkers fall as each of the last several races have come down to the final laps.
The Lucas Oil 100 will feature several local Islanders, many of whom still have a chance to be champ. Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) leads the Islander’s charge for supremacy. Other hometown favourites also include Greg Proude (Springvale, PE), who with better luck could possibly be sitting on top of the standings. Proude remains in reach of the championship as he is less than 100 points behind Turple.
Fans will also be treated to 30 laps of Modified feature racing and 25 laps of Outlaw racing prior to the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour main feature, the Lucas Oil 100! Tickets for the Lucas Oil 100 are $25.00 for adults, $15.00 for youth, children 12 and under are admitted for free. Pit passes for Saturday’s event are $30.00 and restricted to those 16 and over.

(Halifax, NS, July 28, 2010) - Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine will compete at the Atlantic Cat 250 at Scotia Speedworld on August 6th and 7th - A crown jewel event of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour. Rowe is a five-time PASS Champion, four on the PASS North Tour and as well as the 2009 PASS South Champion. A second generation driver, Ben and his father Mike make up the Turner, Maine Rowe family duo who have been so successful on the short tracks of Eastern seaboard. The addition of Ben Rowe on the list on entrants for the Atlantic Cat 250 has just made it more difficult for the other drivers to win the race. He had legendary on-track battles with the late Scott Fraser at speedways all over the eastern seaboard, providing fans with exciting racing action. Rowe would like nothing better to win the Atlantic CAT 250 and take home the Scott Fraser Memorial trophy, named after his old race buddy, for his display case.

July 24th…Race #12
It Rained All Day And Threatened In The Early Evening,
Here We're Practicing
It was the type of night we thought we'd be doing something other than racing. It rained most of Saturday and the forecast was continued rain until Sunday. However, the track owner decided to hold out, waiting for the rain to stop and we ended up getting in the nights racing.
The pits were a mess from all the rain during the day, but the track dried off letting us get our racing in. In our heats we finished 4th and 2nd. The Late Models are very competitive but we were stronger in the second heat staying glued to the rear bumper of the race leader. The sun came out after our heats were finished giving us a completely dried race surface.
In our 30 lap feature starting from 7th position we were caught in heavy traffic for the first half of the feature. The JDS Impala was fast throughout the night, staying in the hunt with 10 to go.
The Feature Race Was A Battle From Start To Finish
On lap 24 a caution came out bringing the cars together. As the field cruised down the back chute the cars closed in, anticipating the green flag. Suddenly coming off turn four the leader got into the car beside him causing a huge wreck with cars spinning everywhere. Luckily we were able avoid the cars as they careened off one another. The severity of the wreck moved us to 2nd place and we held on for our third runner up finish in 2010.
This week end we will race at Flamboro on Saturday night and at Sauble Speedway on Sunday for their “Beat The Heat” 150 lap special.

Ladouceur Finishes in Third Place in Pro Stock Feature at Cornwall
Craig Revelle - Finish Line Web Design
July 27, 2010
Just one event filled the schedule for Joey Ladouceur and his Alexandria, Ontario based team this past weekend, and that was at the Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday night.
Ladouceur started the night off by dominating his qualifying race, and with a third place starting spot in the 20 lap Pro Stock feature, Ladouceur and team his team were very optimistic about their chances. At the green flag Ladouceur briefly dropped back to fifth before getting up on the wheel and going after the race leaders, by lap four he was back up to third where he had started. On lap six he was up to second and took the lead two laps later. Ladouceur held the lead with just three laps remaining but dropped to third on the final restart of the race on lap 17.
“We didn't need that last restart”, says Ladouceur. “We were in good shape before then. There are a lot of really good cars here each week, the competition is as good as it has ever been. We had a good

points day, and we will take that and move on to the next race”.
The third place finish moves Ladouceur up to second place in the Cornwall Speedway Pro Stock Point Standings.
Ladouceur will be back on the track again this Sunday at the Cornwall Motor Speedway in his Coffrage 20-20 Racing, Mr. Radiator Auto Service, Fence Depot, Fastline Performance, Glengarry Truck Centre. Minimax Transportation, and PM Promotions, Stinger X Chassis. The Mohawk Race Parts Series resumes the following week, on Friday, August 6th at Autodrome Granby, and Saturday, August 7th at Autodrome Drummond.
Joey Ladouceur and his team would like to express their sincere sympathy to the family of Mohawk Raceway photographer Mike Watts, who passed away on Sunday morning. Watts has been a long time track photographer and friend to many race teams, including the entire Ladouceur family.

Kinser Conquers Quebec: Wins Inaugural World of Outlaws Event at Autodrome Drummond
Drummondville, QC-July 27, 2010- Steve Kinser has an amazing record over the years when he visits a track for the first time with the World of Outlaws, having scored well over 50 wins in debut events for the series. The 20-time series champion added to that remarkable list on Tuesday night as he was victorious in the World of Outlaws first-ever race at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada before a standing room only crowd on a picture perfect night.
Kinser started on the outside of the front row and battled his teammate Donny Schatz in the early going, taking the top spot from him on the fifth lap as the pair exited turn four, using the low side of the four-tenths-mile to surge ahead. He would quickly pull away in lapped traffic. The native of Bloomington, Indiana would pace the final 31 circuits of the 35-lap contest to score his sixth A-Feature win of the season and the 558th of his amazing career.
"It is special," said Kinser in Victory Lane of scoring another inaugural event win. "I thought we may have been jinxed earlier when Johnny (Gibson) said earlier how we have won a lot of races in our first time at a track and I know we have, but you sort of hate hearing it before you go out there. To get another first win is great."
Kinser was out front for three double file restarts and chose the low line each and every time. He led Donny Schatz into turns one and two on the first two and had Paul McMahan lined up on his outside on the final restart with six laps remaining. Kinser used strong restarts each time to stay in front aboard the Bass Pro Shops Maxim.
"The leader gets to set the pace with the line he chooses, so I choked them down a bit and caught the moisture getting off (turn) four," explained the Hall of Famer. "I didn't want them to get up to speed and get a run at me coming off four. They were pretty slow starts, but that's what you have to do sometimes, pick a spot and do what you can."
Schatz, who led the first four laps of the race on Tuesday night, used a strong restart on the 22nd lap to look high off turns one and two in his bid for the lead. He used the same strategy on the following lap, but could not quite make the pass. The final restart of the night would come with six laps remaining, after Schatz stopped on the track with a mechanical problem while running second.
"I didn't really know when to move back up and Donny (Schatz) showed himself and I moved back up on top," Kinser noted. "Then I started running out of fuel on the last five laps and didn't think I was going to make it to the checker on the last lap. It was spitting and sputtering, but we made and that's what matters."
Paul McMahan ended up second on Tuesday night to earn his 10th Top-Five finish in the last 12 races, which is the most of any driver during that span. The veteran started fourth in the Great Clips Maxim and ran in the Top-Five all night, getting around Chad Kemenah late in the going for third, before moving into second when Schatz dropped out.
"We've been real good," said McMahan. "The car was awesome fast all night long. It's just great to be back in Canada. The fans are great and it's unbelievable how packed the place is. Hopefully we'll be back many times down the road."
Joey Saldana, the current World of Outlaws point leader finished third after lining up 11th in the Budweiser Maxim to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award. The second generation driver holds a 29-point advantage over Kinser as he chases his first title.
"We were struggling with our car all night and weren't too bad in the feature," said Saldana. "It's hard racing with these guys when you start in the 11th spot and it's tough to make it up. We had a good solid car and just came home third."
McMahan lined up on the outside of Kinser on the final restart with six laps to go. He dove to the low side of turns one and two to no avail as he kept pace with Kinser on the restart. Coupled with Saldana's third-place finish it was the fourth time this season that both Kasey Kahne Racing cars have finished on the podium on the same night.
"My motor wasn't taking off very good so I was trying to get down to the bottom as fast as I could," shared McMahan. "I got down there and had one shot at Steve (Kinser) and he was better than we were. I was probably a third-place car until Donny (Schatz) broke. We came home second and it was a great night for Kasey Kahne Racing."
Jason Meyers, who is currently third in points, finished fourth in the GLR Investments KPC. Sam Hafertepe Jr. used a strong restart following the lap-29 caution to power his way from 10th to fifth in the final six laps in the Lone Star Speedway Maxim.
Chad Kemenah scored a sixth-place finish in the Golden Flavor Sesame Sticks Maxim, with Kraig Kinser seventh in the Quaker State Maxim. Lucas Wolfe was eighth in the Allebach Racing Maxim with Danny Lasoski ninth aboard the Casey's General Stores Maxim. Jason Sides rounded out the Top-10 in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim.
The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31 at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada for a two-night event.
