Brainerd, MN- July 3, 2010- Jason Meyers certainly has known the way to Victory Lane this season with the World of Outlaws, as he started the year on a tear winning six times in the first 19 races of the 2010 campaign. Entering Saturday's event at North Central Speedway in Brainerd, Minnesota, it had been 12 races since he picked up a win and he wanted nothing more in his second visit to the 1/3-mile bullring than to pick up a victory. The native of Clovis, California did exactly that, besting Donny Schatz and Joey Saldana to score his series-leading seventh A-Feature win of the year.
Meyers used a strong double file restart on the low side of the track with four laps remaining to edge Schatz, after the pair had a great battle on a previous restart only to have the caution fly, setting up the final restart. For Meyers, the $10,000 win was the 42nd of his World of Outlaws career.
"It feels great to win," said Meyers. "We had a little bit of a dry spell after a great start to the season and we've been digging hard here. This entire team has been working hard and I think my confidence was down a little and we are getting that back and really getting rolling now."
On the final restart, Meyers, Schatz and Saldana nearly went three wide into turn one when the yellow flew for Danny Lasoski, who has stopped on the track. With the same restart order, Meyers led the field into turns one and two in the GLR Investments KPC with Schatz diving low and nearly taking the lead on the final green flag as the pair raced side-by-side. Meyers held him off and Schatz again looked low in turns one and two on the next lap, pulling even with the leader, but was not quite able to get a run on him to make a pass.
"All I was thinking was go hard," shared the winner when asked about the final restart. "That's the great thing about Donny (Schatz). He'll race you as hard as can be, but he'll race you clean. That takes a lot of skill to do. Anyone can run in there and run over you and Donny races you hard and I have the utmost respect for him."
Meyers chose the low line on each of the five double file restarts on Saturday night, as he led the entire distance in the 35-lap contest. He had Schatz line up on his outside on four of those starts and Kraig Kinser on the other, leading the field each time into turn one.
"I was better on the top actually, but on a restart, when you are going from a stop, it's just so far around the top going up there," he explained. "I did that a couple of weeks ago starting on the top at Dodge City (Raceway Park in Kansas) and gave the race away to Joey (Saldana) and I learned my lesson. I promised my guys I would not make that mistake again."
Schatz did everything he could as he looked for the win down the stretch, winding up second in the Armor All/STP J&J. After lining up fourth, the North Dakota native quickly got around Kraig Kinser at the start and then tracked down Paul McMahan on the fourth lap to move into second. Kinser got back around him on the seventh lap, with Schatz retaking the second spot coming off turn four on the 26th lap.
"He raced me clean and I guess you can't win them all," said Schatz of Meyers. "It doesn't seem like we are winning too many, but we had an awesome car. I can't thank my guys enough. They just keep plugging away and every night they keep giving me something even better than the night before. I probably left a few laps out there and didn't get aggressive enough at the right times."
The final six laps of the race saw three cautions, putting the leaders in open track down the stretch. Schatz made up some ground on Meyers and Kinser in lapped traffic after the midway point of the race during an 18-lap green flag stretch, which was the longest such period of the race.
"It would have," quipped Schatz when asked if lapped traffic would have helped. "We strive for that and want to see the traffic. The longer we raced the more yellows we seemed to get. We were able to stay with him on that one restart and the yellow came back out. That's just part of it and you find a way around it and keep on working."
Joey Saldana, the current World of Outlaws point, leader quickly worked his way to the front on Saturday night. After falling back a spot to eighth on the start, he got around Danny Lasoski on the second lap and Tony Bruce Jr. on the fourth lap to move into sixth. Just two laps later he moved into the Top-Five getting around Jason Sides. He found himself in third on the eighth circuit, passing his teammate Paul McMahan. On the second to last restart, he ran nearly three-wide into turn one with Meyers and Schatz, when the caution came back out. He ended up third in the Budweiser Maxim, gaining 10 points on Steve Kinser in the series standings to extend his lead to 20 markers as he chases his first title.
"We came from seventh to third, so it was a pretty good night," Saldana said. "I thought we had a shot at those guys and wanted to race them. On that last restart I was hoping Donny (Schatz) would go to the top because I was going straight to the cushion and didn't want to spin him out. We came home third and I'll take it. It's definitely better than where we have been running."
Kraig Kinser, who won in the World of Outlaws debut at North Central Speedway in 2008, came home fourth on Saturday night in the Quaker State Maxim. Tim Kaeding came from 11th to finish fifth in the DTR Transport KPC in his debut at the 1/3-mile.
Jason Sides was sixth in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim, with Chad Kemenah seventh in the Golden Flavor Sesame Sticks Maxim. Steve Kinser earned the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award coming from 19th to finish eighth in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim. Paul McMahan was ninth aboard the Great Clips Maxim, with Lucas Wolfe rounding out the Top-10 in the Allebach Racing Maxim.
The World of Outlaws return to action on Thursday, July 8 with the final round of the Showdown for the Bud Crown, Kasey's King of LaSalle Presented By Budweiser at LaSalle Speedway in Illinois.

KENNINGTON WINS IN CASTROL/MAHINDRA TRACTORS/HITACHI TOOLS DODGE AT ST EUSTACHE
July 4, 2010. DJ Kennington, driver of the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge was unable to take the lead until very late in round number three of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this past Saturday night at the Autodrome St. Eustache. However Kennington would lead when it counted and score his second race win of the season and take over the overall championship points lead.
During afternoon practice the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge proved to be handful even though Kennington was fourth quickest. “We had a problem with the a suspension piece rubbing on the right front tire but he Castrol Crew got it fixed up for qualifying” said the driver. “After the repairs we scored the third starting spot for the race” he added.
In the early part of the race Kennington maintained a strong pace and kept in touch with the front pack of cars. “I didn't want to race too hard too early and use up the car so I just stayed patient to see how things developed” said Kennington.
The #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge team continued this approach as scheduled pit stops occurred and though he would shuffle back in the pack DJ was able to move back up toward the front of the field. “The car was pretty consistent but some of the guys were running pretty hard and I wasn't sure that I'd be able to get back to the lead” he stated.
In the second half of the race Kennington moved back up to second position and closed up on the race leader looking for an opportunity to pass. “I worked pretty hard on the #22 car but just couldn't get by him” said the driver. “Then I dropped back into third spot and just wanted to hold on to a podium position and bring the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge home and make it a good championship points day” he added.
With only two laps remaining Kennington
would benefit from the aggressive racing between the #22 and the #02 who came together and slid up the race track. Kennington seized the opportunity to push
the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors/Hitachi Tools Dodge into the lead and claim the victory, his second of the season. “I was just hanging on in those final few laps” said the thankful driver afterwards. “Those guys were racing for position and we happened to be in the right spot to take advantage when they had troubles. I'm so happy for the whole team that worked really hard again today. This win is for Rick Williams, who we lost recently and for my friend Bob Hewitt. I've got to thank Castrol, Mahindra Tractors, Hitachi Power Tools and everybody who helps us out. We really appreciate all your support” he concluded.
You can watch DJ Kennington's victory in round number three of the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series can be seen on TSN this coming Saturday, July 10th beginning at 11:30AM Eastern Time.
The next race of the season takes place Saturday July 17th on the streets of Exhibition Place in Toronto as part of the Toronto Indy weekend. Follow the progress of the #17 Castrol Edge/Mahindra Tractors Dodge all season on the newly redesigned website

Thorold, Ontario (July 3) -The first night of summer at Merrittville Speedway (July 3rd) saw a great crowd celebrate Canada Day in the Boltworks Night at the Races Saturday July 3rd - enjoying an action-packed 6 division Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Event.
And like many of the race fans waiting in line for their $1 Piller's Hot Dogs - sometimes things come in threes.
One week after winning his first two career Modified Lite Features at the Thorold d-shaped oval - Josh Sliter made it three in a row after winning his J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Main Event.
Chad Chevalier won his first ever L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modified Feature while another of the Rookie Class of 2010 - Rob Murray ran away to his 2nd career Original Pizza Logs Sportsman Feature.
Dolf McCready, Rocco Conte and Terry McNeill also came home winners of the Hoosier Stock, Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinder and the Grantham Lions Enduro Qualifier accelerated by Niagara College.
“After last week,” informed Josh Sliter, “the crew wanted to change the whole car … I just wanted to leave it alone - it's the same set up as last week.”
Other than maintenance - Sliter may not want to change a thing on his car as the Port Colborne driver took his third win of the season.
Sliter would take control about the half-way point after wrestling top spot away from Paul Klager. Once Sliter was out front - a possible late race challenge from rookie Randy Hollingshead and Klager never materialized after Klager spun his car in turn 4 after hitting some water and collecting Hollingshead in the process.
Klager inherited the lead just before a lap 8 caution was needed for early leader Chris Steele whose car fell of the pace with problems. Prior to that Steele had made one of his thrilling drives to the front - taking top spot from Blair Young as he crossed the start finish line to start lap 3. Former Champion Wally Billing was the initial leader of the event.
With a green white checker run to the checkered flag it was Sliter well out in front of what appeared to be another top finish from rookie Derek Moore. Unfortunately earlier in the event Moore had spun out and lost a lap to the field but was able to run with the leaders.
“This is the best night of the year,” admitted a somewhat relieved Kory Howe with his best finish of the season in the runner up spot, “after blowing the motor and the flip … to have a great run on Boltworks Night … it doesn't get any better.”
Regardless of where he finished, Howe knew that he would be on the front stretch after the event. In conjunction with his long-time sponsor Boltworks - the St. Catharines driver gave away two custom bikes to two lucky younger race fans.
Jordan Curran also had his best finish in taking third spot as did another rookie Dan Kviring who was fourth. Billing as well held on for his best in rounding out the top 5.
“Tonight … I had a game plan,” revealed first time L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modified Feature Winner Chad Chevalier, “I knew I was going to run the top … and I stuck to it throughout.”
Chevalier - the former multi-time Sportsman Champion took the lead at the start of the 35 lap Feature - driving away from fellow rookie and front row starter Steve Schumacher at the drop of the green.
A multicar incident on lap 13 slowed the field with a second on lap 15 still finding Chevalier in control despite a challenge from fellow Port Colborne resident Adam Ferri who actually had the lead for a brief time.
Despite two more cautions taking the race to the 10 laps to go point - Chevalier never faltered - pulling away to a good lead over Pete Bicknell who was able to get by Ferri as the event wound down.
In the closing laps slower cars allowed Bicknell to close in on the leader but the multi-time track champion ran out of time to get within striking distance.
“Chad was so good through the turns,” observed Bicknell, “I just couldn't find the same line … congrats to him.”
Adam Ferri was third with Chad Brachmann and Mat Williamson closing out the top 5.
The start of the 25 lap Original Pizza Logs Sportsman Feature saw rookies Rich Farraway and Ron Kingsbury at the controls of the event before veteran Rob Knapp took control on lap 3.
With a number of cautions slowing Knapp's momentum in the early stages it didn't seem like the half way point would come. The first part of the event was all Rob Knapp but slowly both Rob Murray and Nick Cupolo had advanced to the front of the pack.
About the halfway point, Murray was able to overtake Knapp for the lead and by lap 15 Cupolo was now in the runner up spot. Murray - the three time Hoosier Stock Champion was off to a lead of some 5 car lengths with Cupolo holding a little more comfortable advantage now over Knapp.
As the race wound down - increasing lap traffic allowed Cupolo to close in on Murray but there was no holding back the St. Catharines driver.
Like Chevalier, Murray would share the same plan, “I thought that the top would come in … so I just stayed there,” revealed two time winner Rob Murray, “lately we've been struggling … I've had so much help from a whole lot of people … thanks to everyone.”
Cupolo would have to settle for second with B.J. Willard, Greg Panunte and Brad Rouse as the top 5.
Peter Reid was first to lead the Hoosier Stock Feature with Mike Dooley quick to challenge. Dooley would soon get out of shape though on the back stretch without losing much ground. After a lap 2 caution Reid would face challenges from Dooley and Kevin Knapp - the three - almost three wide. Reid would set the pace through two restarts with Knapp holding a brief lead.
Quickly Dolf McCready and Ken Sargent would join the fray. Along the backstretch of lap 7 the front runners were 4 wide with Reid keeping his lead before yet another caution delayed quite a race.
Kevin Knapp would soon challenge Reid with Knapp taking control on lap 10. Another caution found Knapp in top spot on the restart with Sargent, Reid and McCready three wide for the runner up spot. Sargent would fall off the pace with McCready now in the runner up spot.
Coming out of Turn 4 to complete lap 16 McCready would get out of shape allowing Knapp to close in with another caution again slowing the field.
McCready would keep top spot on the restart and in the closing laps - would drive to a 5 car length lead for his 4th win of the 2010 Season. Knapp would hold on to the runner-up spot with Jason Fontaine third. Reid held on for fourth with Kevin Aube rebounding from an early race incident to salvage fifth.
The start of the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinder Feature saw the front-runners three wide and when the pack got to the start finish line - it was Kyle Pelrine and Austin Wood as the top two. Eventually the second generation driver would take over top spot. Unfortunately though after pulling out of line on the original start - Wood would be put back two spots on the first caution or at the end of the event whichever came first.
The first caution would come on lap 7 with Rocco Conte the new leader on the restart with another second generation driver Damian Gore quick to challenge before another caution slowed the field.
Gore was the new leader when racing resumed. Gore was slowed on lap 11 for another race slowing incident - regaining top spot on the restart.
Another late race caution set up a green white checker finish and in the run to the finish - Conte regained top spot with Gore settling for second.
Rob Goulding took third spot with Rob Overholt and Aaron Wiley as the top 5.
The second Grantham Lions Club Ironman 25 lap Enduro Qualifier accelerated by Niagara College closed the action packed night and it wasn't until late in the event that Terry McNeil found the accelerator.
Fred Koorneef was first to lead the almost no holds barred event before Martin Paddock took control early. Contact between the two found Ken McLeod out front before Ryan Ferri was next to set the pace. Two red flags on each side of the half way point would stop the field with Joe Cvetovic taking control after the first restart.
A third red flag situation on lap 21 would put the leaders right together for the run to the finish and it was in the last 4 laps that McNeil would take the lead. Cvetovic would settle for 2nd with Ferri third. Tim Farrell and Mike VanMaaren rounded out the top 5.

St. Eustache, QC, Saturday July 3, 2010: Scott Steckly driver of the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge was dominant all day at St. Eustache. Steckly was fast in practice and maintained that speed during qualifying, where he posted the second quickest time. The Lucas Oil National 250 was a success for Steckly as he pulled off a second place finish.
In qualifying Steckly put the No. 22 on the outside pole, and ran in the top five for the first 90 laps of the race. When the caution flag flew on lap 98 Steckly pitted twice taking both left and right sides. The No. 22 restarted in the 11th position. With the fresh tires Steckly was charging hard to the front and took over the lead on lap 140. The driver of the No.22 Dodge maintained the lead for just shy of 100 laps and fell back to second with 10 laps to go.
“We were trying to save our stuff for the end of the race” said Steckly “but we pitted early and didn't have as fresh tires as some of the other guys behind us. We just couldn't hold on to it at the end.”
Steckly, running in second, challenged for the lead with 2 laps to go, but lapped traffic got in the way and the leader ended up sideways and Steckly, who had to slow up, was not able to complete the pass but held on for a solid second place finish.
Finish: 1. F.J. Kennington 2. Scott Steckly 3. Don Thomson Jr.
Steckly moved up two spots and is now third in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Point Standings.
The Lucas Oil National 250 will be aired on TSN on Saturday, July 10 at 11:30 a.m. EST.
The next event for the No.22 Canadian Tire Dodge will be the Toronto Honda Indy and the Canadian Tire Jumpstart 100.

St. Eustache, QC, Saturday July 3, 2010: Mark Dilley driver of the No. 9 Rheem Dodge Avenger started the weekend with a tenth place qualifying effort and crossed the finish line also in the tenth position in Saturday's Lucas Oil National 250.
Dilley qualified the car in tenth place and afterwards commented “we didn't qualify where we had hoped, but I'm very happy with the car, we looking forward to a strong race.”
Dilley had moved up to ninth in the 250 lap event when an early caution came out and the No. 9 team took the opportunity to come to pit road and take left side tires. Dilley restarted in 11th, but with fresh tires was able to quickly make his way through the pack to the front.
When the next caution came out the rest of the pack pitted and the No. 9 Dodge Avenger took over the lead for the next15 laps. When the next caution came out Dilley pitted again for right side tires and fuel. He restarted the race in ninth.
The No. 9 Rheem Dodge driver had made his way up to the fifth position with two laps to go when he got clipped by a car involved in a wreck ahead of him. The incident resulted in a flat tire and a bent front suspension. Dilley managed to hang onto the car and stay on the lead lap long enough to cross the finish line in tenth place.
Dilley was disappointed after the race, “We were looking for that top five finish and we had it in our sights, but unfortunately got caught up in the last lap incident between the leaders and lost several spots.”
Finish 1. D. J. Kennington 2. Scott Steckly 3. Don Thomson Jr. 10. Mark Dilley
The Lucas Oil National 250 will be aired on TSN on Saturday July 10 at 11:30 a.m. EST.
The next event for the No.9 Part Source Dodge will be the Jumpstart 100 at the Toronto Honda Indy on July 16, 17th.

DILLEY SETTLES FOR TENTH AT ST. EUSTACHE
TOUGH NIGHT AT ST. EUSTACHE FOR DEREK WHITE
July 4, 2010. Derek White and the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar Race Team were excited to race at the track close to home in St. Eustache for round three of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this past Saturday night. Unfortunately the day turned into a battle looking for engine gremlins that hampered their performance.
White looked forward to the challenge the tricky 4/10 mile track presented and was anxious to hit the track. Following the practice session White was pleased with the performance of the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar car. “The car handled great, we thought it was just a little issue with the carburetor that we needed to adjust” said the driver.
The engine issues continued through qualifying and the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar car would start the feature event seventeenth and the team was concerned that the problems under the hood were more serious.
When the green flag waved White would find that other issues would also cause the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar team trouble. “We had a problem with the transmission and the car just started popping out of gear” said the driver. “It turned out to be kind of a tough night and the car was a handful so I tried to give everybody as much room as possible”.
The mission for the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar team was to finish the race at this challenging track and learn as much as possible. They would claim a fifteenth place result and were reasonably satisfied. “With the problems we had we're happy that we finished the race, the car is in one piece. We ran our back up car because this is such a tough track and can be hard on equipment. So we'll go back and get ready for the next race” he stated.
Despite the difficulties White and the #99 DPW/OCR Gaz Bar team remain tenth in the overall championship and leading the rookie in the series.
Derek White and the #99 DPW/OCR Gas Bar Team will return to action on the streets of Toronto at Exhibition Place on Saturday July 17th as part of the Toronto Indy Weekend. The team is scheduled to compete in all thirteen series races this season. As in years past all NCATS races will also be seen on TSN. The St. Eustache race will air at 11:30 Eastern July 17th. Through the afternoon practice session the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge was a handful for Beauchamp. “We just seemed to be off in the set up” said the frustrated driver. “We normally run really well here but today was a battle to get the handling right” he added.
Frustration would continue through qualifying as Beauchamp was only able to manage the twelfth best time in the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge. Starting in the middle of the pack Team Mopar had to be flexible in their approach to the race. “We think with the changes made we'll be better for the race as the track changes” said the driver. “We may have to make an early stop if things are still a bit off” he added.
In the early going the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge dropped even further back in the field but Beauchamp stuck with the plan. “It was tough early but as the track cooled down we got a little better” said the driver. As the race continued Beauchamp was able to begin moving forward.
Scheduled pit stops would also prove to be a challenge for the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge team. “We had a little trouble with our left side tire change” said Beauchamp. “But I've got to give credit to the guys on Team Mopar we kept battling through” he added.
In the closing laps Beauchamp appeared to have the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge settled up front and able to challenge. “It seemed that on long runs the car would change and become a handful” explained the driver. “Then when I had the chance to ease up and let things cool down, we'd get faster again” he stated.
Working hard right up to the checkered flag Beauchamp was able to obtain a fifth place finish for the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge. It was a satisfying result after a trying day. “After a tough outing last time I think we've definitely changed the momentum of our team and are moving forward” stated Ron Jr. “We had to fight for everything we got today and I'm really proud of how the guys worked so hard today” summed up the driver.
With the fifth place result Beauchamp and the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge now sit sixth in the overall championship.
Ron Beauchamp Jr and the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge Team will compete in all thirteen races on the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Round number four takes place Saturday July 17th on the streets of Toronto at Exhibition Place during the Toronto Indy weekend. All events this season will again be broadcast on TSN, the St. Eustache event airs Saturday July 10th at 11:30AM. For more information about Team Mopar go online to

TOP-FIVE FINISH FOR BEAUCHAMP AND TEAM MOPAR
July 4, 2010. Ron Beauchamp and the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge team came to the Autodrome St Eustache for round number three of the NASCR Canadian Tire Series looking to rebound from a disappointing result at Mosport. With a concerted team effort all the Team Mopar achieved their wish.

As Bourque began practice in the #00 Telus Dodge it was his first opportunity to get acclimated to the tricky 4/10 mile track. “I like the track, it's challenging” said Bourque “I talked a lot with my teammate DJ Kennington and just tried to improve with every lap” he added.
Bourque would qualify the #00 Telus Dodge nineteenth and looked to take a cautious approach but ran into difficulty even before the race started. “I had radio problems even before the pace laps” said the disappointed driver. “I was able to hear but couldn't speak to the team” he stated.
The radio issues for Bourque got wore after he took the green flag in the #00 Telus Dodge. It was only a few laps in when the radio went totally caput” explained the driver.
The radio wasn't the only difficulty Bourque had to deal with in his #00 Telus Dodge. “I couldn't see anything” stated the driver simply. “You need the spotters help to get around this track so I had to come into the pits. I didn't want to be the cause of somebody else's problem or wreck myself” he added.
Bourque wheeled the #00 Telus Dodge to pit lane and the crew looked to diagnose the problem. “I've got to give the team a lot of credit for rigging something quickly to get it fixed, but we lost a half dozen laps” he explained.
A strong finish was impossible but Bourque returned the #00 Telus Dodge to competition looking for whatever positives he could make from the evening. “It's a real morale killer when that happens because we expected to move up once the race started. We did pass a lot of cars, but because we were down that many laps early we could never reclaim the laps we lost” he concluded.
Despite the disappointing evening, Bourque remains in the top-ten of the overall championship sitting ninth. “We'll put this one behind us, learn from it and I know we'll be better at the next event in Toronto” ensured the driver.

BOURQUE BATTLES AT AUTODROME ST. EUSTACHE
St. Eustache, Quebec. (July 4, 2010) Pierre Bourque and the #00 Telus Dodge team looked to continue their impressive early season showing in round number three of the Canadian NASCAR season at the Autodrome St. Eustache this past Saturday night. The evening turned into one of unexpected challenge.
ST. EUSTACHE, Que. (July 3, 2010) - DJ Kennington waited until the last minute, but came away with the big prize. Kennington passed Scott Steckly just prior to taking the white flag at the Lucas Oil National 250 - just moments after Steckly had taken the lead away from Kerry Micks - and picked up the victory Saturday at Autodrome St. Eustache.
As Steckly and Micks were battling each other and trying to use lapped traffic to their advantage when, all of a sudden, the bottom of the race track was left open for Kennington, who hails from St. Thomas, Ont., to dive into for his first and only lead of the night.
“This one was kind of gift wrapped for us,” said Kennington. “(Steckly) and (Micks) were going at it - just racing hard - and the door opened up for me and I walked through it.”
It was Kennington's second win in three NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 races this season. His sixth career victory came in drastically different fashion than his dominating performance at Delaware (Ont.) Speedway on June 5.
“A win is a win any way they come,” he said. “Not going to say that we totally had it handed to us, though. The Castrol Edge Dodge was great all day and near the front all race long. However, if it didn't play out the way it did, I'm not sure that we had enough there at the end.”
Micks, who won his first pole position of the season earlier in the day in his Beyond Digital Imaging/Dickies Ford, had a dominate car and was the class of the field in the early going before tangling with John Gaunt on Lap 65 after which Micks, out of Mt. Albert, Ont., was assessed a rough-driving penalty. Micks, then, worked his way back to the front of the field and passed Kennington for second on Lap 231 and Steckly for the lead on Lap 240. But as they approached the white flag, Micks got sideways and lost several spots.
Steckly, who led a race-high 123 laps, settled for second in his Canadian Tire/MotoMaster Dodge. While sympathetic, Steckly was not overly apologetic on how the events unfolded at the end of the race.
“I do hate it for (Micks). They had a great car, but we were both using lapped cars there,” said the driver out of Milverton, Ont. “But it was just hard racing and we both were going for the win. That's what I'm here to do - win races.”
Hamilton, Ontario's Don Thompson Jr. crossed the line with a hard-fought third-place effort and considered the night a success.
“The Home Hardware Chevrolet was not particularly good tonight, so we'll take this one and move on to the next,” he said. “It's always fun to race at St. Eustache. The fans here are just great and are into it all race long.”
Jason Hathaway and Ron Beauchamp Jr. closed out the evening with fourth and fifth-place finishes, respectively.
Micks, Anthony Simone, JR Fitzpatrick, Andrew Ranger and Mark Dilley rounded out the top 10.
After winning the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn., earlier in the day, Ranger took an over two-hour helicopter ride to St. Eustache and arrived at the track just as driver introductions were getting underway. Steve Cote, an Autodrome St. Eustache NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competitor, practiced and qualified Ranger's No. 27 Dodge. However, due to the driver change, Ranger had to start the race from the back of the field and the Roxton Pond, Quebec driver came up short in his effort to navigate his way to the front and collect a unique multi-country doubleheader sweep.
The race lead changed hands eight times between five drivers and there were six caution periods covering 39 laps.
TSN coverage of the Lucas Oil National 250 coverage will be telecast on Saturday, July 10 at 11:30 a.m. ET.
In the championship point standings, Kennington jumped back into the top spot and leads Fitzpatrick by 18 points.
The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil is next back in action on July 16-17 for the Jumpstart 100 on the Streets of Toronto as part of the Honda Indy Toronto.

Naples, ME 7/3/10 - Ryan Blaney scored his second Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South series victory of 2010 Friday night in front of an always stellar crowd at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley, South Carolina. The sixteen-year-old driver made a patient s march to the front, taking the green flag from the fifteenth position. Blaney managed his tires and waited until lap 102 to make his move to the lead.
Andy Loden finished second coming up one position short of a series record fourth consecutive PASS super late model sanction win in a row. Kyle Bonsignore finished with a career best of third. PASS South point leader Preston Peltier finished fourth followed by Jody Lavender in fifth.
Thirty-two cars attempted to qualify for the twenty-eight car Firecracker 125 starting field. Chase Elliott set fast time after blowing up the engine in his primary car early in the day's practice session. Elliott's Pro Photo Productions fast time award didn't translate to a good result as Elliott struggled to a fifteenth place finish.
Several drivers took advantage of the plentiful amount of green flag racing including Devin Jones and Randy Porter, who both managed solid top ten finishes after having to race their way in through the fifteen lap last chance race. Texas native, Trey Mitchell, matched his season best finish of sixth thanks to a second place qualifying effort. He was followed by thirteen-year-old rookie, Kyle Benjamin, who had a career best night with his seventh place finish.
PASS South gets back in action August 7th when the series makes their first of two stops at the Newport Speedway in Newport, TN for the Daniel Boone Classic. The PASS National Championship series travels north for the first time in 2010 when the touring short track stars challenge the high banks of New England's fastest weekly race track on Thursday July 22nd. “This makes it all worthwhile,” said a beaming Lane as he savored his first feature win at CFS in over two years. “It's thanks to the hard work of my crewmembers and the heart and soul of this team, my dad who put in a lot of hours this week to put this car back together,” said Lane as he dedicated the win to his pit crew.
Lane, who started the 100-lap feature on the outside of the second row, stuck with the lead pack early on. By lap #54, Lane was waging a tooth-and-nail battle with the leader, Claude Gaudet (#22) of Grand Barachois. More than once, Lane moved inside with what appeared to be a small opening, only to see the 2008 CFS Sportsman champion close the door. By lap #77, Gaudet's tires were starting to show their wear and Lane was finally able to squeeze through on the inside coming out of turn #4 - a lead he would hold for the win ahead of Cal Hatfield (#11) of Rothesay and rookie sensation Matt Rodgers (#42) of Smithtown. In the 10-lap heat, defending 2009 CFS Sportsman champion Dan Bourque (#15) of Grande-Digue picked up his first win of the 2010 season ahead of Gaudet and Craig Ward (#02) of Riverview.
In Atlantic Open Wheel (AOW) Modifieds action, Mark Price (#9) of Saint John captured his second win in a row with a dramatic move with only two laps remaining in the 35-lap feature race. Price, who started the feature event near the rear of the field, patiently made his way through the pack and battled to stay in front with four other drivers. Mike Rayburn (#98) of Hampton was the early leader, with four AOW racecars either parked on his rear bumper or trying their luck on the outside groove. Joe Hoyt (#17) of Wassis then made his move on the outside during a restart on lap #20, with Price moving into third position. For the next 13 laps, both Rayburn and Price pressed Hoyt hard with Price finally making his own move on the outside with two laps remaining, crossing the stripe a few centimeters ahead of Hoyt and Rayburn. Rayburn and Hoyt both got to enjoy a victory lap earlier in the event as Rayburn captured the win in the 10-lap semifinal while Hoyt was victorious in the second heat. The first heat win went to rookie Dale Young (#14) of Mount Hope, N.B.
Tim Layton (#6) of Hillsborough also made it two feature wins in a row as he picked up the win in the afternoon's Shediac Sportsman 25-lap feature, crossing the stripe ahead of Don Marcoux (#27) of St.-Louis-de-Kent and Tyler Rossiter (#14) of Weldon. Layton also picked up the first place hardware in the semifinal while Rossiter picked up his first win of the 2010 season in the 10-lap heat.
In Mini Stock action, 15-year old rookie Julien Leblanc (#07) of Haute Aboujagane backed up last weekend's first career feature win by making it two in a row in a hard-fought battle with Michel Brun (#77) of Grand Barachois. Brun had to settle for second, while Denis 'D.P.' Leblanc (#95) of Bouctouche was very happy with his third place showing after spending 25 hours rebuilding the front end of his Honda Accord after a hard hit with the wall the previous week. Leblanc also picked up the win in the semifinal while points leader Martin Landry (#00) of Grand Barachois was victorious in the heat.
In Four Fun division action, rookie Scott Bourque (#69) of Cap Pelé picked up his first career win at CFS in the 35-lap feature, crossing the finish line ahead of Stephen Lively (#1) of Shubenacadie, N.S. and veteran Eugene Weagle (#60) of Petitcodiac. In the semifinal, it was Weagle picking up his first win of the 2010 season while Wilfred Simon (#10) of Bouctouche was first across the stripe in the 10-lap heat.
Next weekend, the CFS will host a double-header weekend with points championship racing in all four regular stock car divisions along with the Atlantic Open Wheel (AOW) Modifieds on Saturday evening, July 10th at 7:00 p.m.

LANE CAPTURES MARITIME SUPER SERIES
FOR SPORTSMAN 100 AT CFS
session. Mathews drew the unfortunate honour of qualifying first and put in an excellent effort to claim the eighth starting position. “It's tough qualifying first, the track has a lot of different rubber and oil from other cars and it hurts your lap, but we did pretty well considering” summarized the driver.
As the green flag waved on the 250 lap main event Mathews though only in his fourth series event immediately began to show his talents as he moved the #15 Mathews Motorsports Ford up toward the front of the field. “The car was fast, no doubt about it” said the driver. “I really felt comfortable at the track after only a few laps” he added.
As the race progressed Mathews would run predominantly among the top five battling with the best drivers in the field for position. Before the race was halfway however Mathews believed there was an issue with the left front tire. “We thought we had a tire going down so when we had the opportunity during a caution we made a stop for tires” said the driver.
Rejoining the battle Mathews looked to put the #15 Mathews Motorsports Ford back up front. The team also worked to plan out their pit strategy for the duration of the race. “When our left front went flat we took left side tires, and then decided to take right sides under the same caution. This decision changed our strategy and it turns out we took right sides about 75 laps too early.” said Mathews.
The laps ticked away and Mathews continued his exciting run but in the late stages the car became an even bigger handful to control and the #15 Mathews Motorsports Ford went off between corner one and two. “I got a little impatient with two lapped cars racing me hard and went to go outside and had no grip” said Mathews.
Steve Mathews returned to the fight after his incident and battled to the end in the #15 Mathews Motorsports Ford and would finish the event in twelfth. “In a way it was a successful day, and I would like to thank the whole Mathews Motorsports crew for their great effort and hard work. The more of these NCATS races we do the better we get.”
