A week of anticipation to get the new 604 Crate Engine in the #82 Victaulic Ford for the second segment of the Grisdale Triple Crown Series ended in disappointment for the Shaw Team. Timing did not work in the teams favor and although it was ready to go into the car on Friday, there was not adequate time to break it in following the manufacturers recommended procedures. With the expense put into the new motor, it was decided to leave the old motor in for the 75 lap special and hope for the best.
There was not a cloud in the sky and dry hot weather was in the forecast as the Shaw Crew arrived at the track and readied for the first practice session. The car had a big push that was much worse that the previous event despite the chassis changes that Dave Meades put into the car the night before. The crew made changes to both right side shocks and at the start of the second practice, seemed to make a difference, however as the run continued, the push returned. Jason tried dialing in more rear brake to compensate for the push and with no success, returned to the pits for yet another shock replacement. Due to complications with the final right-front shock replacement, Jason missed the drivers meeting as well as the time trial that was used to set the starting order and would have to start at the back of the 16 car field.
The #56 of Jeff “The Bull” Stewart produced the fastest lap time to get him at the front of the field, however he
had to role the dice to invert the front of the field and ended up starting 9th. 16 cars entered the track for the 75 lap feature and after an out of car introduction of each driver to the larger than normal crowd, Jason hung well back of the field for the start in anticipation of trouble at the front. The anticipated trouble arrived on lap three when the #49 gathered the #8, #56 and #29 into turn three ending their night. With the car still not handling well, Jason returned to the pits where the crew had plenty of time to make adjustments while the tow trucks kept busy taking the involved cars off of the track. Jason found himself restarting in 11
th but still at the back of the field as more cars than were involved in the caution remained in the pits with their own problems. The #05 led the field to the restart followed by the #89, #86 to round out the top three. Jason got by the #00 in turn two to break into the top 10 and then by the #77 on lap five into 9
th. As the #89 took over the lead up front on lap
six, Jason moved ahead of the #86 into 8
th. Continuing his slow movement toward the front the #82 Erb & Erb Insurance Fusion passed the #50 on the inside for 7
th on lap nine. Two laps later the #36 spun without caution giving Jason 6
th and as the #89 and #05 moved well ahead of the field on lap 14, Jason got by the #07 for 5
th. On lap 16, Jason ventured to the outside and took over 4
th by completing the pass on the #3. On lap 20, the field was well spread out and dealing with lapped traffic with only 10 cars remaining on the track as they passed the 1/3 mark. Positions remained the same until the #03 got by the #05 into 2
nd as the #89 remained well ahead of the field. With 30 laps remaining, not much had changed on the track until Jason reported that he had lost his brakes and was bringing the #82 into the pits where the brake fluid was found to be boiling due to the excessive heat build up, ending the night for the #82 team. The crew watched the conclusion of the feature where on lap 68, the #89 who was still out front, spun with or without the help of the #03 who was fighting for the position. After a lengthy discussion between track officials under the caution, disputing the starters original call to send both cars to the back, the #03 was given the lead and the #89 was sent to the back on his own. With only 4 cars remaining on the lead lap, it was the #03 followed by the #05, #3 and the #89 taking the final green flag where they would run to the checkered with the only change in position being the #89 getting by the #3. After the #03 failed to pass technical inspection, the win was given the #05 and despite being out of the race early, the #82 maintained a top ten finish in 8th.
Next up for the Shaw Team is to insert the new motor into the car, get it broken in, solve the brake issue and get
a handle on the chassis to remove the bad push condition all before a return visit to Flamboro Speedway on Saturday July 10
th for a double points night. Pit gates open at 4:00pm, followed by the main gates at 5:00 and racing is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.

ROOKIES ARE GOLDEN
EDMONTON, AB. - For the tenth consecutive season the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series is proud to be a part of Canada's oldest open wheel race event. First run back in 1954, the annual Gold Cup featuring '360' Sprint Cars, will be competed at Castrol Raceway this weekend. Current NPP Series point leader Bruce Broughton had a best finish of 2nd in his rookie season at the 2005 Gold Cup event “We had everything working our way that night,” says the driver of the Fraser Brothers Shingling #61 Chevrolet, “unfortunately we've been going the wrong way at this particular event since then.” The Spruce Grove Alberta driver has had an average finish of 11th at Gold Cup events since 2006. “Everyone steps it up at the bigger shows there is no doubt about it. We need to do the same.
Also looking for a strong Gold Cup weekend is Pete Head. The Whitecourt, Alberta driver is making his NPP Late Model Series debut in the #48 Kal Tire Chevrolet. “I have to admit that I do have some butterflies but once I get out on the track I should be okay.” Head, eager to try out his new race car, did manage to complete a few laps on the roads of his acreage subdivision. “Got a few stares for sure,” laughs Head, “I'm looking forward to going racing for real this weekend.” Despite his rookie status in the NPP Late Model Series, Head does have experience piloting a race car. In 2005 Head did spend some time behind the wheel of a stock car on the dirt track in Bishop's Falls Newfoundland.

LaSalle, IL-July 6, 2010- The Showdown for the Bud Crown comes down to one final race this week as the World of Outlaws invade LaSalle Speedway in Illinois for Kasey's King of LaSalle Presented By Budweiser on Thursday, July 8. The event will mark the World of Outlaws first visit to the high-banked and always racy ¼-mile since 2004.
The Showdown championship battle tests drivers on three very different types of tracks. Rounds 1 and 2 were at the high-banked Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee and Round 3 was at the big half-mile of Missouri State Fair Speedway.
Jason Meyers is leading the Showdown for the Bud Crown championship, followed by Paul McMahan (-36), Steve Kinser (-39), Donny Schatz (-76) and Danny Lasoski (-102). Joey Saldana won the opening round at Volunteer Speedway, with Meyers winning the second night at Volunteer and Jason Sides capturing the third leg at Missouri State Fair Speedway. Drivers earn points in the Showdown championship during time trials, heat races and the main event, so heading into LaSalle the fight for the crown is wide open. Following Kasey's King of LaSalle on Thursday night, the top three in points will share a $15,000 bonus.
Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws champion, was victorious in the series last visit to LaSalle Speedway in 2004. Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion, is the only driver that has won twice with the series at the high-banked ¼-mile, including winning the inaugural World of Outlaws event at the track in 2004. That pair are the only drivers currently competing with the series that have won at the track.
A total of six drivers have visited Victory Lane with the series at LaSalle Speedway in seven races dating back to 1994.
The battle at the top of the World of Outlaws standings continues to be tight entering Kasey's King of LaSalle, with just 27 markers separating the Top-Three, with Joey Saldana on top, Steve Kinser second and Jason Meyers third. The series has completed 32 A-Feature events thus far in 2010. Meyers lead the series with seven wins, while Saldana leads in Top-Five finishes with 21 and Kinser holds the top spot in Top-10 runs with 30.
The Buzz-
Jason Meyers looks to wrap up the title in the Showdown for the Bud Crown at LaSalle Speedway and also close to gap on Joey Saldana and Steve Kinser in the World of Outlaws championship standings. He has finished first, sixth and seventh in the three Showdown races, setting fast time in two of those events.
Paul McMahan, who is second in the Bud Crown standings, has made two career starts at LaSalle Speedway, finishing eighth in his most recent start in 2004.
Danny Lasoski looks to repeat at LaSalle Speedway, having won in the World of Outlaws last visit to the track in 2004. The 2001 series champion is looking for his first win of 2010.
Steve Kinser is the only driver that has won more than once with the World of Outlaws at LaSalle, taking the checkered flag first in 1994 and 1999.
Jac Haudenschild finished second in his most recent start at LaSalle Speedway in 1998. The Hall of Famer has four finishes of sixth or better in five career starts at the high-banked bullring.
Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending World of Outlaws champion, finished fourth at LaSalle Speedway in 2004 to earn his best finish at the ¼-mile.
Sammy Swindell, the three-time World of Outlaws champion, who won at LaSalle in 1996 will be in attendance. The Hall of Famer has won twice this season with the series.
Lucas Wolfe, Sam Hafertepe Jr., Chad Kemenah, Ben Gregg, Brian Ellenberger and Toni Lutar will all be making their first career starts at LaSalle Speedway this week.

Ramsay in Hunt for Win Again at Delaware - Moves to Third in Points
(Dorchester, ON) -Jamie Ramsay and his CANUSA Motorsports / APC / Total Lubricants Chevrolet Impala arrived at Delaware on Friday July 2nd for the first of two races in just five days at the London-area ½-mile. The night was a regular event, complete with a heat race, and a 35-lap main event.
The night started off well for the team as Ramsay drew the pole position for his 10-lap qualifier. He made short work of the field as he set sail when the green dropped and cruised to an easy win, picking up five bonus points for the result. Ramsay spoke about the qualifying event, saying, “It's always nice to pick up another checkered flag, and the bonus points will help us in the championship race. We're like everyone else tonight, we're saving our best tires for the APC Summer Shootout, but we're in good shape for the feature tonight.”
Ramsay rolled off 10th for the main event, and quickly began slicing his way through the field, moving into the top-five during the first half of the event. Ramsay restarted on the outside and tried to make the top groove work, as he and Mat Box battled for fourth position. Ramsay looked strong, but not strong enough to make the pass. Both Box and Ramsay would move up one position before a late race restart would have the duo locking horns again. Ramsay tried the top groove once more, but couldn't make the pass, and would settle for a solid fourth place finish. Ramsay was pleased with the result, “Our car wasn't as good as it has been the last couple of weeks. We improved the car going into the turns, but we hurt ourselves coming off. We made a bunch of changes to the car, and have to go back half of what we changed for Wednesday night. It was also a lot of fun racing with Mat at the end.” With the finish, Ramsay moved to third in the
event. “I'm excited about it, and think it will be a pretty cool deal. My team is also really excited about it. They crew guys never get enough credit, but they are very proud that they were able to prepare a car for Ruetimann.”
