DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 6, 2010) - If the old adage is “you have to lose one before you can win one,” Keith Rocco is long overdue for a championship.
The 25-year-old Wallingford, Conn., driver has finished in the top five in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national points standings in each of the last three years - second (2009), fourth (2008), and fourth (2007). In time, Rocco has spent significant portions of the season atop the points standings, only to watch somebody else walk off the stage at the awards banquet with the big trophy.
Rocco is determined not to let that happen this year.
He won Friday night at Stafford (Conn.) Motor Speedway, and then again Saturday night at Waterford (Conn.) Speedbowl. It gives him 16 wins in 28 starts and further cemented his hold on first place with 786 points.
“We ain't taking our foot off the pedal until Sept. 19,” said Rocco of the deadline for races to count toward the national championship, as well as U.S. state and Canadian province titles. “There isn't any slowing down. No cutting the week short in the shop. We're just making sure we're well maintained and staying on top of our game.
“As much as races are won on the track, they're won in the shop, too.”
Craig Preble, of Yutan, Neb., remains second in points with 692, racing his dirt crate Late Model at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., on Saturday and at I-80 Speedway in Omaha, Neb., on Sunday. Preble has 12 wins and 19 top fives in 19 starts.
Justin Johnson of Durham, N.C., is third with 605 points. He has nine wins, 13 top fives and 16 top 10s in 16 starts in the asphalt Late Model divisions at South Boston (Va.) Speedway and Radford, Va.

Rocco Chases Perfection In Connecticut
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Leader Increases Total To 16 Wins

Bill Leighton Jr. (584 points) and Matt Buller (557), who race against Preble at the two Nebraska tracks, are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the national standings.
Rocco was the only driver in the top five to race this past weekend.
A driver's best 18 results are counted toward their state and national points totals, and the champions are decided on overall points total.
Under the points structure for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, the race winner received two points for every car in the event up to 20. Second place received two fewer points, and so-on through the field. Race winners received an additional five bonus points. For example, if there are 20 cars, the winner received 45 points, second gets 38 and third 36. If there are 15 cars, the winner received 35 points, second gets 28 and third, 26.
Thirteen of Rocco's 16 wins have come with a maximum 20-car field, leaving him just 24 points shy of a perfect score of 810.
The last drivers to record a similar season under the NASCAR championship format were the late Larry Phillips and current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Greg Biffle in 1995. Phillips and Biffle achieved the maximum points under the system at the time; Phillips won the crown by virtue of more overall wins (32-27).
Rocco has 16 wins, 23 top fives and 27 top 10s in 28 starts. He began this past weekend with his worst finish of the season, a 17th at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway, before bouncing back with victories in the asphalt Modified divisions at the other two Connecticut NASCAR Whelen All-American Series tracks.
Rocco realizes that his racing calendar is a bit of old school scheduling.
Only 13 other drivers have run more races this season than Rocco has won.
For Rocco, it's the way his father raced in the late 1980s, and it's what he's grown up around. Racing three nights a week is the norm for him, and he wears it as a badge of honor.
“To be one of the few that does that, it does feel like I'm a bit of a throwback,” said Rocco.
The biggest reward for the long hours in the shop and the dominance on the race track, though, would come in the form of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship trophy he's been chasing.
Track, state and provincial champions and the top three finishers in the national standings earn invitations to the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards Banquet. The winner of the national championship will also earn a secure spot in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown.

TORONTO, Ont. (July 6) - The 2010 Parts Canada Superbike Championship enters its second half at Mosport International Raceway this weekend, and that suits Uxbridge, Ont.'s Alex Welsh just fine.
The 22-year-old rider for the Competition Systems Kawasaki Race Team has been frustrated with his results through the first three races of the year but says Mosport's 3.9km (2.459-mile), 10-turn track is the sort of venue where he and his Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja can excel.
“It's pretty smooth and flowing, and it's fast. I like fast tracks,” says Welsh, who is in his second year riding for the Kawasaki team. “I enjoy going there and I think I speak for everybody in the series. This event is usually the highlight of the year.”
Welsh says part of his enthusiasm for the Mosport circuit comes from his background as a 250cc Grand Prix racer, where maintaining momentum through the turns and carrying speed are of paramount importance.
“With my background, I like to link corners together,” he explains. “With some of the other tracks, riding a Superbike, you use more of a point and shoot style. I know I'm a Superbike racer now, but Mosport takes me back to my 250cc Grand Prix days.”
Welsh comes to this weekend's races, the fourth and fifth rounds of the seven-race Parts Canada Superbike tour, eighth in the series point standings. He placed seventh in the season opener at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Que. in May and then claimed a pair of sixths at Calgary's Race City Motorsport Park last month.
“We've had kind of a rough year so far,” Welsh admits. “But now we're at the halfway point of the season and this is a good turnaround point. I think we're getting there.”
Part of the problem for Welsh has been a major change surrounding the Kawasaki team for this season. Last year Welsh was partnered with Jordan Szoke in a full factory effort, however that was cut back in the off-season. Competition Systems took over the running of the squad and Welsh is now the lone rider.
“It's different,” Welsh explains. “There's some good and bad points to it. There's no question I learned a lot from Jordan last year.
“Even though the guys on the team are basically the same from last year, this is my first time working directly with them. Mike Crompton does a great job with the engines, Harald Surian is excellent, but we're still getting to know how to work with each other. In my opinion this is the best team in the country. I think it's getting there.”
Another change has been the suspension of Kawasaki's Pro Sport Bike program for 2010, reducing Welsh's track time.
But don't expect the dip in form to last for too long. Both Welsh and Kawasaki have a history of winning.
After riding motocross as a youngster, Welsh got his start in road racing in 2005 and a year later claimed the United States Grand Prix Racers Union (USGPRU) 250cc national title.
In 2007 Welsh ran a limited schedule of 250cc races in North America but did pick up first place in the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Road Race Grand Championships at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The following summer Welsh joined the Parts Canada Superbike Championship as a rookie, running on a slender budget with the Z1 Cycletech Triumph team in the Pro Sport Bike class. The newcomer was a sensational fifth in his debut at Calabogie Motorsports Park and went on to claim the HJC Pro Rookie of the Year title.
Welsh's excellent 2008 campaign led to a test with the Canadian Kawasaki Motors team and he was drafted into the squad to partner Szoke last year. His best results came at Mosport, when he stood on the podium in both Pro Sport Bike races and took a season high third in one of the Superbike rounds. A nasty crash at Atlantic Motorsport Park forced him to sit out the penultimate round of the season and he finished seventh in Superbike points.
Despite the lack of factory backing, the Competition Systems team is the same group that took Szoke to four straight Parts Canada Superbike and Pro Sport Bike titles between 2006 and 2009.
“I think we're getting there; it's definitely coming around,” Welsh says. “Mike always builds a strong engine for this track and I go well around here.”
While Welsh's father and brother are fixtures at the national rounds, the proximity of the Mosport event will allow some of his friends from Uxbridge to see him in action.
“I think I'll have some friends coming out, it's a good opportunity for them,” he says. “It would be great to have some people cheering in the crowd for me.”
Given Welsh's affinity for Mosport and the quality of the team behind him, his friends may have plenty to cheer about this weekend.

(Halifax, NS - July 6, 2010) Scotia Speedworld is returning to its roots this weekend with short track racing on Saturday night, one of only two Saturday night events this season for the Weekly Racing Series. To commemorate this special event Scotia Speedworld is offering adult grandstand admission for just $10! Five divisions will see action Saturday night under the lights at the 3/10 mile oval. Gates open at 5:00 pm; racing gets underway at 7:00 pm.
First up are the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros. Emily Meehan (Rawdon) continues to sit atop the Bandolero championship points standing, even gaining a bit of ground on her closest competitor, Cole Butcher (Porters lake). Can Meehan hold on for the remainder of the season and become the first female division champion? There's still a lot of racing left to go this season, but if Meehan can maintain her current form, the class will have a lot of work to do to best the “Rawdon Rocket”.
Last week Curtis Lindsay (Enfield) became the first repeat winner this season in the Truck division. Lindsay will be looking to become a three-time winner this Saturday night, but he will have to beat the hard charging Ritchie's (Wayne and Gordon) to do so. Lindsay is currently tied with Wayne Ritchie (Stewiacke) for 2nd in the championship points, with Gordon Ritchie (Anrim) in the top spot, 21 markers ahead.
The Legends will be the next division to battle under the lights on Saturday night. Last week the Legend drivers put on a great show, running all 25 feature laps caution free, a testament to the skill and talent in this division. 29 Legends cars have seen action this season in the Weekly Racing Series. The top 16 are all within 100 points of leader, Steve Pye (Lance), the top 5 are within 20.
The Sportsman will follow the Legends feature on Saturday night. Former Hobby Stock champion Kyle Butler (Lake Egmont) took home his first win in the division on Report Card Night. Rookie Mike Alexander (Cole Harbour) took home fourth last week, to secure himself 3rd in the division standings to date. The division is a mix of experienced veterans and relative newcomers. Will experience take home the championship or can one of the newbie's steal the coveted title?
Finally, the Tirecraft Thunder cars will round out the show. More Thunder cars have hit the 3/10 mile oval than any other division. With 30 cars seeing action on a regular basis the division is always an exciting one to watch. Tylor Hawes (Porters Lake) is in the top spot in the championship standings; however, there are 20 Thunder cars within striking distance. Will Hawes extend his 14 point lead, or will his competitors make up ground? Join us Saturday night under the lights to find out!
Admission for the Weekly Racing Series, Saturday Night Special is $10.00 for adults; $2.00 for youth aged 8-15; children 7 and under are admitted free. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $15.00 and restricted to those 16 and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. Ottawa, ON. (July 6, 2010) Pierre Bourque has an opening this weekend from his duties in the Canadian NASCAR season. So the veteran driver will be keeping busy at Iowa Speedway in the ARCA Racing series.
Bourque will jump behind the wheel of the ESR Toyota Camry for the reigning series champion owners Eddie Sharp Racing this Saturday July 10th in the Prairie Meadow 200 at Iowa Speedway.
This is not the first visit to Iowa Speedway to participate in the ARCA Racing series for the talented driver. In 2008 Pierre Bourque not only participated in the event but put on quite a driving exhibition.
Bourque was relegated to the back of the field due a rain-out of qualifying. He would start the feature event from last place, 41st on the grid and put on a memorable display. “We passed 25 cars during the race” said the enthusiastic driver. “The car was great to drive and coming home 16th was a terrific result” he added.
In the fall of last year Bourque participated in the Camping

World Truck series event for Andy Hillenburg at Iowa Speedway. “We were doing well but unfortunately had a mechanical issue that ended our day early or we had a good run going” stated Bourque.
The return to ARCA Racing and to Iowa Speedway is a highly-anticipated one for Bourque. “I'm really looking forward to seeing all my friends in the ARCA series again” said Bourque. “And Iowa race fans are absolutely fantastic, their support is truly inspiring.
Iowa Speedway is also a venue where Bourque really enjoys his time on the track. “I just love this place” stated the driver. “I really enjoy the track layout with its impressive banking in the corners. It makes for great racing and I can't wait to get going this weekend” he added.
This Saturday's schedule of events at Iowa Speedway begins with practice at 10AM local time followed by qualifying at 5:15PM and the green flag waves on the 200 lap feature race at 8PM. As the summer begins to heat up, so does the Evoy Racing team and driver Dylan Evoy. With a win just a few short weeks ago, Evoy has backed that up with a string of top five finishes, including a pair this weekend at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Ontario Speedway.
After enjoying Canada Day on Thursday, the Evoy team began preparing for Friday night's race at Mohawk Raceway, in Hogansburg, New York. Evoy is becoming quite comfortable at the half-mile track, and with a few races at the track, he has gained some valuable experience, and

the car has been handling extremely well. When the green flag was displayed to the Sportsman field, Evoy worked his way up from his sixth place starting position. Doing everything possible to get past the race leader, Evoy looked high and low, trying to take over the top spot, but unable to do so. Evoy finished in second place.
“The car was good, but not quite good enough to get past the 01 car. We almost had him at one point, but the caution came out, and we never got another chance. He is really good on the restarts, and pulled away just enough that we couldn't get back up to him before the checkered flag”, explains Evoy after the race.
On Saturday night, Evoy was back at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. The Speedway is located virtually in Evoy's backyard, and a track that the entire Evoy family has attended throughout the 40-year history of the track. Evoy started his qualifying heat from the fifth position, and drove the car home to a fourth place finish at the checkered flag. After fine tuning their Ogilvie's Auto & Fleet Service, Fireball Performance Automatics, Nan's Kitchen, RONA, Robotic & Process Automation, Subway, Linde, Unity Savings, RipNET, Charleston Lake Auto Service, Canadian Tire, Thousand Islands Concrete, Pennzoil and NGK Spark Plugs Bicknell car, the Evoy team was ready for the 25 lap Sportsman feature. Starting from the seventh position, Evoy had to make an evasive move on lap two to avoid disaster in turn three. Just seven laps into the race, Evoy had cracked the top five, and was looking for more. Just three laps later, the 17 year old driver had worked his way up into third, and held the position through the remainder of the race.
“It was a good run here tonight”, says Evoy. “We continue to have these good finishes, but we just need to find a little bit more in order to win, especially here at Brockville. If you are even just a little bit off, it can make all the difference in the world, the field is just so competitive”.
This coming weekend, Evoy will be back at the Mohawk Raceway, looking for his second win of the season. On Saturday night, the team will be back home, at the Brockville Ontario Speedway looking for win number one.
Evoy Racing 2010 apparel is still available at the track on race nights. Stop by the Evoy trailer after the races and pick up your t-shirt or sweatshirt. You can also contact us at ronevoy@ripnet.com. T-shirts are $20 and Sweatshirts are $30.
To stay up to date with Dylan Evoy and Evoy Racing log on to the team website at www.evoyracing.com . The website is updated weekly and it also contains information on Evoy Racing and Dylan as well as direct links to our sponsor's websites.

Sarver, PA-July 6, 2010- From the first time he turned a wheel at Lernerville Speedway back in 1992, Danny Lasoski has always been fast at the historic four-tenths-mile located in Sarver, Pennsylvania. He had been trying for many years to win at the track, finishing second on four occasions before finally breaking through and reaching Victory Lane last season in the opener of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30's. Coupled with a strong charge from 19th to seventh in the finale, he was crowned the overall Silver Cup winner, adding his name to an illustrious list of drivers that have won the famed event over the years.
Lasoski will return to Lernerville Speedway along with the rest of the World of Outlaws on Tuesday, July 20 for the 19th Edition of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup, which again this season will have Twin-30 lap features, with the second feature lined up by an inversion of the finish of the opener, which proved to be a very popular format with the fans last season. The event remains the single richest one-day show on the circuit, with one driving having a shot at taking home $30,000 if they were to win both ends of the Twin 30's.
The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup is also the only time all season that fans will have the chance to see two full A-Feature events in one night, with the best sprint car drivers in the world doing battle for a total of 60-laps of racing.
"The Silver Cup is definitely one we'll always cherish," said Lasoski of his win in the event last season. "Don Martin was such a great promoter and a great person, so to win that thing will always hold a special place to me. Gary Risch and his people do a fantastic job over there now. We always look forward to going to Lernerville and especially the Silver Cup. It's pretty neat for the fans to get to see two races in one night."
Lasoski has 25 career Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws at Lernerville Speedway in 28 starts, with 13 of those being Top-Five performances. He has finished in the Top-10 in 10 of his last 11 starts at the track. In his career with the series at Lernerville he has an average finish of 6.6, which is second only to 20-time series champion Steve Kinser among the drivers competing full-time with the series this season.
"Lernerville is a very unique track and they always have the surface prepared well," Lasoski noted. "You can race the top, the middle and the bottom. There are always multiple grooves. Last year we had our car working pretty good over there."
Last year marked the first time in quite a few years that a World of Outlaws event was a Twin Feature. The Silver Cup will be the second inverted race for the series this season as the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic at Knoxville Raceway followed that format earlier this season, with the finale lined up by an inversion of the Top-20 finishers in the opener, though the features were held over the course of two days. A couple of drivers were able to charge from the back to front in that event and last year at Lernerville, Lasoski passed 12 cars in the second segment to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award coming from the 19th starting spot to finish seventh.
"You have to watch the track, especially between the features and be able to make adjustments," explained the 2001 series champion of the Twin feature format at the Silver Cup. "We were able to work on the car last year and made the right changes to work our way to the front in the second feature. They reworked the track after the first feature which helped quite a bit."
Lasoski is still in search of his first World of Outlaws win of the 2010 season aboard the Casey's General Store JEI, nearly picking it up at I-96 Speedway in Michigan back in May, leading the first 24 laps of that contest before he lost a rear end. The native of Dover Missouri, who will be one of four former series titlists competing in the Silver Cup, is just outside of the Top-10 in the series standings this season on the strength of 14 Top-10 finishes.
"We've been close a few times this year and just have not had the breaks go our way," he stated. "To win out here, you have to be fast, be in the right spot at the right time, have a little luck as well and have a strong team, which we have here. Hopefully we can take advantage of everything at Lernerville and come out on top again."
The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup is one of the traditional events of "The Month of Money" for the World of Outlaws which runs from the middle of July until early August. If Lasoski is able to win the Silver Cup again this season, he would join Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Donny Schatz and Mark Kinser as a multi-time winner of the famed event.
"The summer months is definitely when you want to be clicking on all cylinders with all of the big races on the schedule," Lasoski said. "We have done well in a number of the big ones over the years and would like nothing more than to win another Silver Cup."
Along with earning $15,000 for his win in the opener of the Twin 30's last year, Lasoski earned the traditional Silver Cup, along with a unique trophy for claiming the overall event title. He would like nothing more than to stand in Victory Lane again with the big check and another prized trophy.
"Last year we got the shotgun trophy, this year maybe we'll get a machine gun," quipped Lasoski with a smile.
Tickets for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30's can be purchased online by visiting
www.WorldofOutlaws.com/tickets or by calling 704-795-7723. On Tuesday, July 20, general admission tickets will be $29, with reserved tickets $35. Children ages 10-under will be admitted free of charge to the general admission section. Advance reserved tickets include a FREE pit pass upgrade.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is brought to fans across the country by many important sponsors and partners, including: Armor All (Official Car Care Products), Chizmark & Larson Insurance , Goodyear Tires (Official Tire), SuperClean (Official Cleaner-Degreaser), VP Racing (Official Racing Fuel); in addition to contingency sponsors, Jake's Custom Golf Carts, KSE Race Products, Penske Shocks , R2C Performance, Racing Electronics, S&S Volvo; Engine Builder's Challenge participants Don Ott Racing Engines, Kistler Engines, Shaver Specialties and Speedway Engines; and Chassis Builder's Challenge participants J&J Auto Racing, Maxim Racing and XXX Race Company.

Ladouceur Wins Mohawk Race Parts Series Race at Cornwall Speedway
Craig Revelle - Finish Line Web Design
July 5, 2010

Entering the weekend, Joey Ladouceur, from Alexandria, Ontario had already visited victory lane on five occasions at three different tracks, including a Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series race at Cornwall Speedway just two weeks earlier. A rare visit to Mohawk Raceway on Friday night and a Mohawk Race Parts Series Race at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday was on tap for Ladouceur and team going into the weekend.
Making his first visit of the season to the impressive Mohawk Raceway in Hogansburg, New York, Ladouceur battled all race long amongst the race leaders getting as high as second place before settling for third place at the checkered flag.
“We had a great battle with Roch Aubin all race long. It was a lot of fun, we raced each other hard, and clean, and we never touched. I would have liked to have finished a couple of positions higher, but considering we haven't raced here at all this season it isn't too bad”, commented Ladouceur after the race.
On Sunday night, Ladouceur's home track, Cornwall Motor Speedway hosted the first round of the Mohawk Race Parts Pro Stock Series. Looking to put his Coffrage 20-20 Racing, Mr. Radiator Auto Service, Fence Depot, Fastline Performance, Glengarry Truck Centre. Minimax Transportation, PM Promotions, Stinger X Chassis into victory lane for the second week in a row, Ladouceur made his mark early, laying down the fastest lap in time trials. Ladouceur backed up his time trial performance with a qualifying race victory, nearly a half straightaway ahead of the second place car. As with all Series events, a redraw determined the top 12 starting positions for the 50-lap feature. Ladouceur drew the sixth position, placing him outside of the third row.
When the green flag was displayed to the field, Ladouceur quickly worked his way up, capturing fifth before the conclusion of lap one, and by the first caution on lap ten, he was up to third. On the ensuing lap ten restart, Ladouceur made a brilliant move, rocketing from third to first on the bottom of the track to take the lead. The next several laps were marred by a series of caution flags, but Ladouceur kept the lead. Before the caution came out once again on lap 31, Ladouceur had built up a full straightaway lead over second place. With the field bunched up, Ladouceur was challenged briefly for the lead, but at the checkered flag, Ladouceur parked his car in victory lane, collecting his sixth win of the season.
“The track was really different tonight then it has been all season”, commented Ladouceur in victory lane. “The car was starting to go away towards the end of the race, but we got the win. I just want to thank the crew, and my family and everyone that supports us, we are having a great season so far. I would like to dedicate this win to a good friend and former competitor Mitch Jock that passed away a few days ago, he was a great person and he loved this Pro Stock division”.
Joey Ladouceur and the Ladouceur team will be back at Cornwall Motor Speedway this coming Sunday. The Mohawk Race Parts Series will continue the following week with a visit to the Mohawk Raceway on Friday, July 16th. The Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series is off now until August 21st when they also visit the Mohawk Raceway in Hogansburg, New York.
